What is there to gain here besides winning a few games? I don't really get it. 😳

Ark is for fun and to explore.
People play it because dinosaurs and deep lore.
But a few toxic people in the community, as well as a racist SG CEO ruined it.

And with the Ascended remaster out now, I'm not happy about it. It's like the first time it was launched when it was in early access. And, like most games their launches aren't always perfect. I can see why, but with Survival Ascended... "Ark Survival ASSTAPOLOSIS" would have been a better title, because it's ASS. And studio WildCard is doing little to fix their past mistakes. And I hope everything is said and done by the time Scorched Earth is re-released.

I hope to be playing Ark Survival Ascended before December. It's my choice to play it, and not just for the dinosaurs and soon dragons, but for the PEOPLE I met on the Valguero map three years ago.

Whoaaa there's an ARK thread here! :mryellow:

I haven't been playing ARK for as long as a lot of the other veteran beach bobs and survivors, I started playing in December 2022. In that time though I've put nearly 1000 hours into it, it's easily one of my most favorite games and I haven't had this much fun playing a game pretty much since childhood. My favorite map is Fjordur and my favorite tames are the thylacoleo and baryonyx.

The Ascended remaster has really put a divide right through the fandom and it's kinda sad to see. I see people say "oh, gaming companies have done worse launches than this" but honestly I really haven't seen a launch this bad well, ever. Constantly going back on promises and delays... It's a mess. The poor subreddit for ARK has been kind of ripped to shreds in the past few weeks. It's hard to try and point out the mistakes Wildcard has clearly made when its die-hard sympathizers will foam at the mouth and call you dumb and how could you possibly dare say that about such a company, they're doing their best. It truly all started when they announced they would be shutting down official servers for ASE. I saw so many people saying goodbye to their tames and buildings and logging off for the last time. Just for their favorite game "remaster" to be treated like this? :tssk:

As an ARK fan don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to play ASA the remaster like everyone else. It looks beautiful, you can't deny that. It's just that, it's kinda funny how 8 years later, Wildcard is repeating the same exact mistakes they did with ASE... I stayed away from playing original ASE for years because it was a buggy mess at launch and it was unoptimized. Nowadays I can actually run ASE at least. But now, I'm doing the exact same thing again and staying away from ASA because currently my PC cannot run it. I have patience; if I have to, I'll wait years until they fix their game, just like I did with ASE.

It does suck though, missing out on the experience. I look back on ASE's growth and it's kinda sad, seeing all the experiences I kinda missed out on. For the people who had friends in tribes, I can't imagine how frustrating this must be. We all just wanna enjoy our dinos and fantasy critters and tribe up together to explore the ARK dangit.

...and now the devs and some other WC eomployees are getting death threats. How wonderful.

If you've been following the latest Ark news on the SurviveTheArk website, every week a Community Crunch is published showing the latest news, game updates, plugs to Ark content creators and artists, and the announcement of Creature Submission Votes.

But, lately, Crunches are 'nothingburgers' because they're showing little content but plugs, and no word on releae dates for consoles.
Dollie, one of the higher-ups keeps stressing that people should curb their enthusiasm, and stay humble.

I get that ASA's launch was buggy at best and controversial at worst, I understand that people are pissed off about the fact that they are repeating past mistakes with ASE, and I fear for Ark's future and name, but the devs are still humans at the end of the day.
They don't deserve this, especially Dollie who is doing what she can to keep things in place and help others.

This is the thanks the devs get.
Disrespect on a hostile level.

I pray they do get their shit together and fix the majority of issues by the time Scorched Earth is re-released. And the playerbase who lashed out at the devs are ashamed of themselves, get over it, and find better things to do if they're gonna act like pissbabies.

Yeesh, death threats? I'm just as disappointed as any ARK fan with ASA's release but that is just sad. There is a point that should not be crossed and there's such a thing as going too far. And that's too far. I really do understand how frustrating this all is but yes, at the end of the day, these devs are humans just like us too. Hence why I expressed I felt patient enough to wait for them to do whatever it is they need to fix up their critical bugs and graphical optimization. Until then, I will wait, just like I did for ASE.

One can only hope that the fanbase will give them the time that they need to fix things. Anybody with a brain could see that ASA's PC release was wayyyy too rushed. Now they're clamoring at Wildcard to hurry up and get the console ports out... :tssk:

BUMP: 2-11-2024 + EXTRA LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT
A lot has changed since the release, the controveries, the backlash, the crybaby tears.
I could go on and on and on and on about the shit that went down, but that's not why I'm here now.

I'm out of hibernation to signal boost a special event that is now live. The Extra Life charity event.

Here's the fundraiser's website: https://www.extra-life.org/

I'm not in the best position to donate right now, and I'm sure some of you aren't as well, but a signal boost will help too.
Afterall, It is for a great cause that'll benefit a lot of people.

-- RANT INCOMING --

For two weeks I've been crashing every 5 to 10 minutes while I'm playing ASA.
I paid 50€ for a faulty game that's barely playable thanks to a patch that made things worse gameplay wise. And now it seems that WildCard is actually LYING about cracking down on cheaters and punishing them accordingly - here's why: They have stated in the past that they'll deal with admin abusers and cheaters, but nothing came of it - ASE was a different game and ASA still has a cheating problem. Plus the CEO of Snail Games is a fucking asshole who drags everything and everyone in his shit. And the CEO also does his own share of cheating and admin abuse.

I thought and spoke highly of WildCard studios but that's changing now. I loved dinosaurs since I was a kid, the Ark PVE community helped me through a rough patch when I lost everything because of the actions of a young player who was too trusting of others. It's such a shame it's come to this. I'm actually considering to take legal action against WildCard studios for lying and ghosting the playerbase, and I'm encouraging other Ark players to do the same. It sounds ridiculously unnecessary and it probably is but this has been going on for ages now something has to be done. A refund is not cutting it.

I've been kind to the game and it's creators, and I got my hopes up.
