Ah yes, DNF came out of nowhere after being assumed to be dead, didn't it? And it wasn't that well received in the end IIRC :oops2:

So I noticed Saturn sharing this in a French topic of BG&E but since I can't speak French I'll share here.

It looks BG&E is coming back but.....a remaster of the first game?
Hmmmmm..I have mixed feelings about this.

Basically, we may get a 20th anniversary remaster/port of the game for PC and possibly consoles according to various news websites. Considering this is a rehash by Ubisoft, if this is going to be any good and not ruined by tons of useless DMRs is heavily dependand on luck. :hap:
And still no news about BG&E2 of course... aside from the good old "We're still working on it".

Judging by that image, we will be getting another remaster that looks worse than the original (looking at you, GTA Trilogy...)

No no I think we had already confirmed (sort of) that BG&E2 is in some sort of game limbo!
You're right though, they probably will screw something up with this remake, knowing them.

More news! The *remaster* BG&E 20th Anniversary Edition is now confirmed for early 2024!
https://twitter.com/bgegame/status/1729872094627090483
Apparently, they even accidentally released an "early development version"... It's always good to be reminded that the project is in capable hands. :noelnoir:
Here are the tweets' content here for preservation purposes (or if X Twitter prevents you from seeing them without logging in):
Well, looks like the cat’s out of the bag, dagnammit. Happy 20th anniversary to Beyond Good & Evil! While we cannot wait to show you more about this special edition, more news to come in early 2024!
An early development version of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition was recently released to some Ubisoft+ subscribers by mistake. We apologize for any confusion and want to assure our community that this version is not indicative of the final game.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beyond Good & Evil, our commitment to delivering a game that meets the high expectations of our fans is unwavering.
We're excited to announce that the official launch is set for early 2024, and we're dedicated to making it an experience that truly honors the legacy of the original. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

As for any news regarding the second game... well... :noel:

So basically Beyond Good & Evil is stuck in the same situation as MediEvil having its first entry being remade yet another time 20 years later instead of a sequel... Except MediEvil had a distinct PSP remake and MediEvil II at least! :pascontent:

Huh, interesting! I wonder how this will turn out. I remember playing this game thanks to the recommendation of my friend Ryan back in the day and I enjoyed it.

I gave up keeping up with the second game since it got more and more further from what... well any of us were initially expecting from the original trailers and it just didn't feel like it was much BG&E anymore.

This does make me want to reply the original again though!

Now I'm wondering if that mistake was a strategic leak… :mefiant: Or maybe I've watched too much Yes Minister and read too many pre-budget politics digests! :oops2:

Well, I'm slightly pumped for this remake. Who knows, they could surprise us!

OK, now I'm considerably more pumped!

Apparently it's out digitally next Tuesday, and then Limited Run Games will be doing a collectors' edition available for preorder from 12 July. I'm not normally one for physical games anymore, but I'm quite tempted to try and get one of those when the time comes…

Oh crap, I just bought the regular edition some days ago because of the special offer, I had no idea this was going to happen.

That's why there was a special offer

I recommend sticking with it for a bit before deciding whether to get the remaster.

Yeah, I had no idea. I guess I'll continue playing the version I have for the time being.

The official TwitterX account just did a thread answering many questions:
Thanks for all the love and comments you have shared since we released the Launch Trailer for Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition last week! ❤️

We understand that you have a lot of questions regarding the game, so here is a thread to address some of them:🧵
The game will be available digitally on June 25 at 5am UTC on all platforms 🗓️
Ubisoft collaborated with Virtuos Games to develop the game, under the supervision of Ubisoft Montpellier 🤝
Yes, the game will be available on Steam at launch! 🚀
Glad to know they understood what's a modern "PC release" unlike some similar corporations, but does it actually mean no Ubeysoft DisConnect DRM? :noel:
UPDATE: BattleEye and Ubisoft Connect DRMs confirmed! You really couldn't help yourselves, Ubi? :mefiant: :beurk:
The digital version of the game will retail for 20€/$20 (local prices may vary) 💲
The Limited Run Games Physical and Collector's Edition will ship globally and be available for pre-order from July 12. 🗺️

Further information about shipping can be found here:
Limited Run Games is a trash company from what I heard many times, tho... :?
The original PC version of Beyond Good & Evil will remain available on Ubisoft Store, Ubisoft+ and http://GOG.com 👾
Preservation and choices are always nice and everyone loves it, even when you want to make a lot of money with new games or a new "remastered" version! Keep that in mind, Epic, Rockstar, etc.! :fuck:
Yes, you will be able to individually invert the X and Y camera axis, both for Jade, the Hovercraft and the Beluga! 🎮
The game keeps the same dubbed voices as the original: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch, with localized texts available in Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Russian and Polish 🔊
Yes, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, and we cannot wait for you to discover more about Jade's past in the 20th Anniversary Edition! ☀️
Ah, haven't heard that one in a while! Can't wait for the imminent release for NEVER the 40th anniversary alongside Rayman 4! :noelnoir:
Yes, it's a picture of Rayman that is featured in the Trailer, and there's a video (and more!) to discover in the Anniversary Gallery! 🖼️
OMAGAWD RAMEN IV TRAILOR CONFERMED!!!1!!?? :fou:

Image
And stay tuned for more news to come about the Re-Orchestrated Soundtrack 🎼
"Tune(d)"... I see what you did there. You better not mess it all up tho.

So, what are your thoughts so far? :)
(Btw, I still haven't finished the original despite buying it on 4 platforms... Yes, that makes me a war criminal and I should be burned at the stake for it :hap: )

It is a game that I have replayed many times, it is a challenging and exciting game for me, one of the best platform video games that I have tried, its story and characters I like very much, it is a game with a pretty good and fun story, personally for me it is for on top of many games of a similar nature

OK, that's enough for an insta-buy from me! :D (Well, not insta- since I was at work when I read that, but as soon as I got home… :mefiant:)

Now I need to figure out if I have enough hard drive space to actually install it, and hope that it works out of the box with Proton… :oops2:

So RayCarrot shared the following on Twitter: https://x.com/RayCarrot/status/1805349075946012801

Apparently while developing the Jade Engine for BG&E, they used a level from Rayman 2 to demonstrate its capabilities. Though with Rayman 3's model (which I suppose tracks since Rayman 3 was in development around the same time, though part of me is intrigued by that considering Rayman 3 was a UbiSoft Paris work, not Montpellier, guessing they shared the model with Montpellier then?)

The re-orchestrated soundtrack of the remastered is now officially available on YouTube and other music platforms :D

Also, this soundtrack is getting a vinyl release and preorders are live now! :D

Ah, that was faster than expected! :D I've been enjoying the reorchestrated soundtrack in-game, although I will say that the new version of the jingle that plays when Jade and Pey'J embrace after defeating the Pterolimax… doesn't quite do it for me :? (EDIT: Ah, but the reprise on the moon did hit the spot for me though! :hap: It's all good then! :))

Anyway, perhaps I was delirious with fever, but I did preorder the vinyl yesterday, despite the high shipping cost… :mefiant: I went with DHL because it was the only courier option I'd heard of and I didn't want to take any risks. One of the other options was cheaper… but not much cheaper… :mefiant:

I just made a new video - this new version of Beyond Good & Evil is the best one in terms of unused content. They just left everything in, and it's super easy for everyone to play a lot of it! :D
