Well I am hoping to get Mario & Rabbids: Sparks of Hope for Christmas, and then get to download all the DLCs including Rayman and the Phantom Show! I stated once before around here that I'd like to see Rayman in an RPG setting, so it does intrigue me as it gives me the chance to e perience it! Depsite not finishing the previous game! :noel:

The truth is, it's been a while since I received any video games as a gift; lack of time doesn't allow me to play as much as I'd like. And to be honest, there are very few new games that can motivate me nowadays. Any special recommendations for PS4? :)

Well, now that Christmas is approaching, it's time to replay Rayman 2 and Rayman 3, as usual. Perhaps I'll consider recording the gameplay in Spanish for Rayman 3, just like I did with Rayman 2...

I've gone ahead and asked for the Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope for Christmas, solely for the DLC.

Funny you mention this, because this weekend I'll be watching Neo and Master play Rayman 2 in my Discord server. I'm trying to drag Steo into this to hang out. We might have to drag you in too now. :bad:

Heh it's funny to know I'm not the only one who replays Rayman 2 & 3 on an annual basis xD.

(Tho I overdid it this year and played 3 versions of 2 and 2 of 3 😅)

It must be interesting to see Rayman 2 on Discord. I assume it would be the PC version to avoid issues with the livestream, right?

And yes, for a few years now, I've taken up that tradition at Christmas... Since I played Rayman 2 in September, I'll probably just play Rayman 3 this year. However, I'm not going to try to beat my high score... for now :bad:

I haven't actually played through 2 in a couple of years now but I definitely want to again at some point. I used to always play it on Dreamcast but I don't have my Dreamcast with me over here. I also remember being so clueless in 2018 that Master helped me on here when I couldn't find a cage in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire.

Surprisingly no. Rayman 2 PC is its own compatibility nightmare. I've no doubt I could get it to run, but honestly? It's probably easier to emulate one of the other versions, modern PC hardware is far along enough that it shouldn't be too much trouble. I've not touched the PC version of Rayman 2 in probably 2 years at this point.

Honestly, I have a dedicated save if I ever do wanna try for high scoring, for my annual runs I just start a fresh save and go at my own pace. Rayman 3 is short enough that you can get away with it, and if you're doing it as a habit then it's probably the more fun option to play casual.

It was the one where you have to turn right while sailing down a hill of lava on the plum, then climb the spider webs to the top. I could hear it at the time but I had no idea where it was.

It was in The You Game. Definitely nostalgic to look at. :P

That's the one cage I didn't find in The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire when I played as a kid.
I did find the crack eventually though.

I think many missed that cage the first time through that section.

Fortunately, the game actually gives you a second chance to get it, even in your first playthrough. That's when I got it. :P

Haha yeah, it loops you back there after you get the yellow orb. Except for the PS2 version iirc, that takes you straight to the area leading to the slide segment.

Last time I streamed Rayman 2 on Discord was through my Dreamcast, through the OSSC into the capture card. It worked out pretty well. I even used VGA output from the Dreamcast as well.

I need to resume that save at some point, but that's a problem for another time. I'll just enjoy watching Master and Neo go at it.

That surprised me the first time I played Revolution, I was prepared to go back and ride the lava river again like in the PC version. You can only go back to the river if you haven't placed the yellow orb, and it's also the only way to get those red lums. Great if you missed something, but if you've collected everything up to that point, the red lums become superfluous.

Honestly the level layout changes in Revolution in general feel a bit superfluous at best and disruptive at worst. I'm not wholly opposed to this one cause tbh, SoSaF is a slog and cutting it down a bit isn't too detractive. But then they lose points for forcing you to backtrack there because of that one lava river you can't cross to get to a cage until you've gotten the lava helicopter ability later on...which wouldn't be too bad except then you have to run thru the rest of the level afterwards.

Don't get me started on the mess that they made out of The Echoing Caves, The Precipice and The Top of the World, the splitting and mixing they did makes the flow of the levels quite different and I personally don't think they work as well as a consequence.

I do own Rayman Revolution, though I feel I want to play the Dreamcast version fully before giving it a shot. Do you recommend I give Revolution a shot ultimately? Or would I be better trying to play the PS1 version first?

Don't hesitate to advertise such occasions in the Rayman streaming topic, though I'm not sure how that would work with private Discord servers. :fou2:

I immediately knew which cage you were talking about! That one sure gave me a hard time...

That's certainly good to know, or to let others know about. This is more of a small event thing that I want to keep small.
