...And then Origins came out, and I got incredibly confused when I saw her and found out she was meant to be *Betilla* ( :paranormal: ), and I briefly wondered after freeing her if I didn't accidentally bought a 18+ parody of Rayman and got uncomfortable at the possibility of a relative suddenly barging into the room at that exact moment. :hap:
Them sweet memories... :hap: and yes, I kinda get the same feeling when editing an article for one of the nymphs on RayWiki. :oops2: I sure wouldn't want a colleague to walk by.

As for me Betilla from Rayman Origins isn't look too sexualised. I played Rayman Origins in October 2012, when I was 11 years old. I was not embarrassed by the scenes of the liberation of Betilla and her sisters. They were corrupted not by "Ubeysoft" but by R34 and Deviant Art fanworks.

However... I should note that Helena Handbasket... She lives in a cold snowy world. And Edith Up too ... Why did they wear bikinis and not fur coats? Or just in some outerwear? Apparently Ubi wanted to make their appearance more memorable. But we still tried not to do too much.

Sweet, painful memories :noelnoir:
Wouldn't that be awkward! Now I can imagine someone getting fired for "looking at scantily-clad Raywomen" at their job!
"S-sir, I-I can explain! It was for Rayman encyclopedic purposes!" :hap:

Great question indeed!
Assuming Ubisoft is following the typical MMO/RPG logic for video game female equipment, wearing less clothes not only boosts their defense stat more than any full armor but also makes them more resilient to elements like cold! :noel:

You're right, I don't get it! But after all, I don't think anyone who doesn't speak French gets "Ubichiottes" either

I personally still more stick to her original design for the reasons I have stated in my previous post, but I'm glad that you like this design! :mryellow:

And yeah, that's pretty weird choice of outfit from Ubisoft tbh, I wish they had more appropriate to the climate clothes than they have in the game. Poor Helena :"D

Ooo, that pun!
For those who's confused, it's mix of words "ubey" ("убей", means "kill" or "murder" in Russian) and Ubisoft. So like Killsoft or Murdersoft.

Here's my take on their outfits from almost nine years ago:
PluMGMK wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2015 1:13 pm Why the nymphs dress so scantily: in order to dissipate the unimaginable heat generated by their dense muscles as they use those tiny wings to provide enough lift to stay airborne!
This raises more questions than it answers by the way.

Thanks for the explanation! I like it, it's fitting considering what they did to some of their franchises

As for Ubichiotte, it's basically "Ubicrapper/Ubitoilet". :hap:
We also have:
-"Actipognon" (Activision + pognon, so "Acticash/Moneyvision").
-"EArnaque" (EA + arnaque, so "EAfraud").
-"Nintendaube" (Nintendo + daube, "Nintencrap").
-"Escrosoft" (escroc + Microsoft, "Scamsoft").
-"Xbouse" (Xbox + bouse, "Xcowpat").
-"Gamefric" (Gamefreak + fric, "Gamemoolah")
Very poetic names, I know. :noel:

:fou:
I think the most rational explanation is that they didn't cared about any logic and simply wanted to potentially make more cash by using the nymphs in promotional material... That and some people in the team being horny for pixels. :P

Acticash actually has a nice ring to it. Most of them are just a bit childish tho. LOL

I wouldn't mind but I definitely do not want Ly to get the same treatment that Betilla did when she returned for Origins. I think it works for Betilla but if Ly went through that she'd lose that charming, cat-girl heroine like vibe that made me like her in the first place.

At least, thanks to the introduction of the nymphs in Origins, we now know who stole Ly's boobs in Rayman 2.

To be fair, most of them can't really be translated efficiently into English due to a lack of proper equivalents.
For example, "daube" isn't nearly as much of a swear word in French as crap is in English despite it being listed as its main translation to qualify something of bad quality... It's also the word for a kind of beef stew. :noel:
But yeah, the principle in itself is pretty childish

Anyway, Space Mama >>>>> all those nymphs/fairies :P :hap:

I never met her outside of her theatre in Picture City, so I don't know which 'pain and suffering' you refer to. :P

But that's exactly what makes her the best! What other Rayman character can claim to have got the most kills on the limbless hero? :P
Space Mama is thus confirmed to be the strongest and most skillful being in the Rayman universe :hap:
