Would you pay more taxes if it meant receiving a pension when you retire?

Yes, the state should guarantee a pension for its citizens.

Yes, but a mixed model would be more efficient (50% state + 50% private pension plan, for example).

No, the state does not have to manage my money; I prefer to have it myself and opt, for example, for a private pension plan.

Alright nice! :)

So basically, I use Discord a fair amount to keep in touch with people, so that will be an option for me. I feel like I only use Facebook to keep in touch with Family or else maybe comment on some event from time to time, but I rarely use it aside from that. YouTube I do look at sometimes, and Twitter I barely use at all really. Reddit is also something I tend to browse at times if a sub interests me, but again, it's not something I always go to first. I don't use the others at all, and I forgot that I ever even used Snapchat.

I'll go with Discord, YouTube, and Facebook for this, with Discord being my most used by far.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #89: Social Media

Post by DaveRattlehead »

My first vote went for YouTube. Now that I don't have much free time I mainly use it to play music there, but it's always fine to check interesting stuff there (tutorials, gameplays, interviews...). When I was younger there were lots of funny videos there and I couldn't stop watching them and at some points I found YouTube way more entertaining than the TV .

I voted for Twitter too. Most of my friends (irl and online) use Twitter, so it's cool to interact with them. Something that I really like about this social media (apart from the memes ) is that you get to the point quickly, avoiding lots of clickbaits and shitty webpages. I also use Twitter to chat with my GTA friends, which is the main reason of why I don't use Discord too much. Actually, I have a Discord user because I created it for our crew, but the reality is that most of us don't use it, we stick to the PSN App or Twitter as it's pretty much the same for us. And it's kinda weird for me not to use Discord that much, because I remember using Windows Live Messenger a lot with my friends!

My last choice was Instagram. Most of my irl friends use Instagram and you know, it's good to be active there, even if I don't post much content there. I simply use it to watch/share memes and chat with friends, that's all.

I don't use Discord anymore as much as I used to. So, I voted for Youtube, Facebook, and Reddit, since those are what I most consistently use every day as well.

We had that smoking poll idea, but a poll with different gaming franchises seems more interesting! Feel free to give some examples ;)

Okay, I tried to compilate as many franchises as possible, but it's impossible to include all of them
So, the question is... Which are your favourite gaming franchises? Feel free to vote for 5 entries and to tell us about it. Interesting debates are always welcome! ;)

I voted for SMB because it’s a fun game to play when bored and I have too many Mario games. I voted for TLoZ because it was the first franchise I ever got into and I really want to get into it again. Pokémon because i used to have great fun playing the games but the new ones have kinda fallen off. Minecraft because I’ve played it for practically all my life and I love the game. And also ticked the other box because no bubsy :pascontent:

Also I can suggest poll #91 or #92 maybe: indie games! :)

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #90: Gaming franchises

Post by DaveRattlehead »

As I said, many gaming franchises aren't in the poll, but it's impossible to think about all of them. I still think 5 votes aren't enough, because I'll have the feeling I'm probably missing some of my favourite ones, but let's see...

Two of my votes are very clear: RDR and GTA. Red Dead Redemption 1 is my favourite game, and probably RDR1 and RDR2 together make one of the best well-written stories. Most of the people prefer RDR2 (and they have reasons to say so, of course), but RDR1 has that something which makes it so special. I don't know what it is, because it's worse than RDR2 in every single aspect, but this game has something that RDR2 doesn't have, and I still don't understand it. GTA is also another franchise that was extremely entertaining for me. That trilogy from the 2000s was simply remarkable, and with mods in PC is even better. My favourite one is GTA 4. It's probably the weirdest of them, with those grey/dark colours representing a sad New York city, and it's probably the deepest of them all. Also, one of the things I really like about this game is how technical it is, with the Euphoria physics and how much you can interact with the environment. This may be a very unpopular opinion, but I think game developers should focus more on how can you interact with everything than on graphics.

I have to include Resident Evil in this "top 5" too. RE5 and RE6 were a bit weird as they tried to copy RE4's formula, but I think these games are great. My favourite ones are RE4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Yeah, I know, they are very different, but they don't necessarily have to follow the same formula :D.

I would have voted for Uncharted or Need For Speed, but as these options would be kinda obvious I've decided to vote for Ratchet & Clank. I don't think it's necessary to describe this gaming franchise, I'll simply say I could still play all of the PS3 games if I were blind

My final vote goes for Max Payne. Matrix is one of my favourite movies, and what was the most surprising formula used in these movies? Exactly, bullet time. Max Payne 1 and 2 represent quite well this formula, in consonance with the dramatic story of Max Payne looking for answers. Max Payne 3 doesn't have this kind of dramatic story, but it's probably one of the best third-person shooter games ever made. The bullet time was considerably improved and in this game you're going to experience the most satisfying shootings.

The most obvious choices for me are Resident Evil (even though I found RE5 to be meh and RE6 really terrible) and Golden Sun (only the first two, I didn't like the last one).

Then, because I had to pick three, I went for Uncharted, The Last of Us (they're all pretty good) and Pokémon (I only really liked the first two generations but that's enough to secure my fifth vote here).

I had a lot of fun playing GTA5 and some of the previous games in the series too, but I had to make a choice here!

Oh no Rayman is not on the list!
So then my first choice is of course The Legend Of Zelda :bad:
What makes this franchise special to me is mainly because I love medieval fantasy stuff, I love them so much that when I was at school I used to pass my time during those boring lessons by using my imagination and creating stories in a medieval fantasy world I created myself, some times I still do it before going to sleep :D
When I started playing Zelda games I realized how similar the characters and the locations were compared to the one I created myself, I felt like Nintendo read my mind and stole many of my ideas

If I have to pick other gaming franchises I'll choose Pokémon, Mario, Sonic and Assassin's Creed.
I was particularly a lot into Pokèmon when I was younger and I can still remember the happiness of getting a new Pokémon game for Christmas or my birthdays :D
Sadly though I began to lose interest in this franchise because of how it changed now, I feel that the games aren't as good as they used to be since Sword and Shield were released but I can say I enjoyed Pokémon Legends: Arceus despite the low-quality looking environments in the game, I am also a bit interested of getting Pokémon Scarlet despite all the glitches because I heard the story is pretty good :)

Then I have chosen Mario and Sonic just for being childhood games, the gameplay of Mario games is fun and I loved playing 2D Sonic fangames like Ultimate Flash Sonic and I used to be obsessed with Sonic Unleashed

I usually tend to dislike realistic-looking games because when I play I like to distract myself from the real world and experience things I cannot do in real life, the art style is something that attracts me a lot in games, that's one of the reasons why I love Rayman

Fallout was my immediate pick! :mryellow: I'll rope in Skyrim/TES under it too tbh, because they're both similar games made by the same game studio. Fallout is easily my top favorite! I'm a sucker for heavily story-driven games. I was introduced to Fallout 3 in 2013, because I played a lot of Skyrim already at the time and somebody's comment of, "Fallout 3 is like Skyrim but with guns" is what made me start playing the series. Fallout: New Vegas was a lot of fun too (major props to Obsidian: I played their other game Outer Worlds too, and I really enjoyed it), but I'll never forget the all-nighter I pulled just to nab for myself a copy of Fallout 4 the day of its release, because I'd heard a next-gen Fallout was coming out. I just love the story and the lore its world has to offer, I know they're not for everybody but that sort of post-apocalyptic world, in its state due to an intriguing political turn of events, is so fascinating to me. BethSoft is very good at making their universes feel like living, breathing worlds and that sort of creativity has always inspired me.

My other votes went to Super Mario and Sonic, because those were games I played a lot during childhood. :hap: I voted for Minecraft as well, I've played that on and off during childhood, and I still play it to this day, although on a personal big modpack of mine (yes, it's 1.12, yes, I know it's old.).

My "other" vote goes to ARK: Survival Evolved. I just really like my dinosaur pet game. I haven't played any other game that was so immersive when it came to taming all kinds of critters, not just dinosaurs, taking care of their unique needs, and learning their strengths and weaknesses for each and every different creature when it came to taking them into battle. It's also good at teaching you how to survive in-game, cause at first it's really hard. :mryellow: I like a challenge that's highly rewarding.

I'm glad there were lots of votes in this one, it seems it was interesting for most of you! :D
So, the second best gaming franchise for RPC users (the best one is Rayman, right? ;) ) is Super Mario Bros! That's a wise choice for sure, it's quality is undeniable.

Poll #92 will be about gaming again, but let's do this one, which is a bit more personal. There's a big variety of people around here, so let's ask y'all this question... Do you smoke? I wrote different situations in the poll, but feel free to tell us your situation if none of the options fits you well ;)

If you wanted to keep it about gaming you could have done a poll asking if we ever played My Health Coach: Stop Smoking With Allen Carr, one of the best Ubisoft games

I have never smoked or vaped, I always knew it was not healthy so I promised myself to never touch a cigarette in my life.
I know that tobacco can become addicting, so I think not starting smoking is the best solution to avoid addiction :P

A similar thing goes for coffee and alcohol, I would never drink alcohol because as a kid I saw adults getting drunk as a bad thing and I didn't want to do it as well, but I like the taste of rum in sweets, wine to cook meat and coffee on tiramisù :P
As for coffee, I do not think it is very necessary in life and I can live fine without it and save money :D

I thought the best one was the Winnie the Pooh game. Rayman 3 had to be included in the pack to get some sells

On my personal side, I tried smoking both tobacco and cannabis at parties, but I don't really like any of them. It's true that you could see me smoking a cigar in some special events (graduations), but apart from that I don't smoke.

Good to see you're not a coffee dependent... I normally drink three daily coffees, and if one day I decide not to drink any coffee there's a HUGE difference :fou:.

I have heard that some people get the opposite effect after drinking coffee and get sleepy, I wonder why they keep drinking it when it is not working for them, maybe they just like its taste
If I feel the need to take something to wake up I drink tea instead, it has a nicer taste and comes with different flavours :D
