Best scams

Post by hoodlumsworld »

Share here the best scams you are targeted with.

Here's my latest:
Hello pervert,

I want to inform you about a very bad situation for you. However, you can benefit from it, if you will act wisely.
Have you heard of Pegasus? This is a spyware program that installs on computers and smartphones and allows hackers to monitor the activity of device owners. It provides access to your webcam, messengers, emails, call records, etc. It works well on Android, iOS, and Windows. I guess, you already figured out where I'm getting at.

It's been a few months since I installed it on all your devices because you were not quite choosy about what links to click on the internet. During this period, I've learned about all aspects of your private life, but one is of special significance to me.
I've recorded many videos of you jerking off to highly controversial porn videos. Given that the "questionable" genre is almost always the same, I can conclude that you have sick perversion.
I doubt you'd want your friends, family and co-workers to know about it. However, I can do it in a few clicks.
Every number in your contact book will suddenly receive these videos - on WhatsApp, on Telegram, on Skype, on email - everywhere. It is going to be a tsunami that will sweep away everything in its path, and first of all, your former life.
Don't think of yourself as an innocent victim. No one knows where your perversion might lead in the future, so consider this a kind of deserved punishment to stop you.
Better late than never.
I'm some kind of God who sees everything. However, don't panic. As we know, God is merciful and forgiving, and so do I. But my mercy is not free.

Transfer $1320 USD to my bitcoin wallet: 1Abx3eY5pHFE1aC4AJLdU91qhHS5rzqP4E

Once I receive confirmation of the transaction, I will permanently delete all videos compromising you, uninstall Pegasus from all of your devices, and disappear from your life. You can be sure - my benefit is only money. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing to you, but destroy your life without a word in a second.

I'll be notified when you open my email, and from that moment you have exactly 48 hours to send the money. If cryptocurrencies are unchartered waters for you, don't worry, it's very simple. Just google "crypto exchange" and then it will be no harder than buying some useless stuff on Amazon.

I strongly warn you against the following:
) Do not reply to this email. I sent it from a temp email so I am untraceable.
) Do not contact the police. I have access to all your devices, and as soon as I find out you ran to the cops, videos will be published.
) Don't try to reset or destroy your devices.
As I mentioned above: I'm monitoring all your activity, so you either agree to my terms or the videos are published.

Also, don't forget that cryptocurrencies are anonymous, so it's impossible to identify me using the provided address.
Good luck, my perverted friend. I hope this is the last time we hear from each other.

And some friendly advice: from now on, don't be so careless about your online security.

It was a ransomware :mefiant:. Around 12 years ago, my computer got infected by the "police virus", which basically accused me of distributing... Let's say some kind of illegal content, right? :oops2:. They wanted me to pay some money to get my computer free. Luckily I got rid of that ransomware using the safe mode

Maybe it's the scammers who did that to make the scam look more "legitimate", but this address did indeed receive $1,337.98 worth of bitcoin yesterday. :o

I guess that email did hit someone who felt they had been doing something compromising… There's always one, that's what makes it worthwhile :confus:

One of my neighbours got this virus and came into me to ask me what was going on. It was funny, it actually had the Irish "Garda Síochána" written on it, and a picture of a known detective on the screen. It was trying to ask for money to unlock the computer, and upon first glance I just told them not to worry, that it's complete nonsense and it made absolutely no sense for the police to do something like this. We of course got it fixed, but it's one of the funniest ones I ever seen.

I often get scam messages myself also, messages claiming I have to do something with my bank account or regarding my mobile provider. In both cases, they always mention the wrong bank and mobile provider, making it extremely obvious that it's a scam before even needing to look any further into it. Some of the links they use are so stupidly obvious too, such as something along the lines of this:
AnPost: You've missed our delivery, for the redelivery of your parcel please visit anpost-delivery-attempt.com and confirm the settlement of €2.38
Very "real" looking domains like that one, if I had even ordered anything in the first place. Not to even mention the whole "€2.38" figure. :P

I remember I was called to someone's house to look at something like this. In that case all I needed to do was kill Google Chrome from the task manager

OMG, you've just made me remember one of the biggest fails I've seen in my life. A friend of mine got a phone call because some people had his daughter kidnapped. When he told them he was 16 with no partner nor children, they didn't even know what to say and after being silent for a few seconds they hang up the phone

Lols, I hate scam prank calls, and I've been getting loads of them lately. And sometimes when I get legit numbers calling and I answer, it's either someone asking me about some weird random insurance I don't have, or if they're really gonna be stupid they address as my dad or my sister instead!

I guess the "best" scam I've experienced is also the only one I ever actually fell for. It was a Steam scam in which one of the people on my friends list (taken over by a bot) sent me a message, asking me to vote for their CS:GO team. I should have known something was up when I Googled the site it wanted me visit and no results came up, but for some reason, I didn't...

Long story short, my account got compromised too, but I fortunately was able to recover it after my friends informed me of what happened. It really scares me how smart and "real" these things are getting.

While I'm never targeted by phone scams, I do get silent phone calls all the time. I have an app that helps a bit by enforcing a caller blacklist, but it's annoying nonetheless.

I do however receive the occasional SMS scam, just like Steo. I once replied to one of those with an insult, mostly out of boredom, and I was surprised to actually get a reply from someone telling me with absolutely terrible grammar that I was insulting a woman. :fou:
