Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #99: Do you prefer summer or winter?
I really love winter, but I think I'll vote for summer, as I get to enjoy more outdoor activities. I just like to spend it where it's not too hot, like in the mountains for example.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #99: Do you prefer summer or winter?
I voted for winter, only because I have a deep hatred for high temperatures as I am very sensitive to heat.
For me summer is the worst season ever as I am unable to go anywhere without the AC on and I easily get sick from the sudden temperature changes when I leave home or I go shopping, that's why in summer I always go on vacation in the mountains, so I can momentarily escape to a better place where I can survive
Last year we reached over 45°C and that was scary, I'm already anxious about facing next summer which will certainly be worse...
Winter is nice, I love skiing, playing with snow and eating warm meals like polenta or tortellini in broth
Then when it's too cold you can just wear different clothing to stay warm, while in summer there's not much you can do unless you want to rip your skin off
If there's something I like about summer is the fruit: peaches, watermelons, strawberries and of course plums are my favourite fruits ever, too bad that I have to wait for this terrible season to eat them

45°C???
we were freaking out in the 2022 heatwave because it reached 40! Luckily last summer was pretty cool and barely reached 30

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #99: Do you prefer summer or winter?
I'm completely the opposite. I like some foods that are usually cooked when it's cold, but I hate winter. Probably what I hate the most is the fact that it's already dark at 5:30 PM. I love the beach, I feel comfortable with the warm weather and, above all, I feel much more energetic in summer. I'm fortunate that, where I live, winters are not as harsh as in other places (not only abroad, but within my own country). Precisely that reinforces my idea that I'd always like to live in a place where the weather is fine and near the coast

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #99: Do you prefer summer or winter?
The only thing I liked about summer was going to the beach and having a nice cool swim. It's always hot down here around this time so I can't even have a nice walk unless it's dark and not warm. Ever since my last beach trip, I don't go anymore and will usually try to get out of going if people invite me. The only reason summer isn't my least favorite season is cuz I despise spring and how this side of the earth gets warmer. Plus March is horrible for me due to allergy season. And did I mention I feel the same way about hot weather as Itz does. I would totally have chosen winter.

I kinda have a love-hate relationship with the dark. I love it when it gets dark on my walk home from school and I find it funny when it’s pitch black at dinner. On the other hand, the dark stops me from being able to go outside at night. It’s currently 6:12PM and still pitch white outsideDaveRattlehead wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2024 1:52 pm what I hate the most is the fact that it's already dark at 5:30 PM.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #99: Do you prefer summer or winter?
I missed this one but I definitely prefer summer by far. Especially when you're in Sweden and half of the year is just freezing, you especially look forward to nice warm summer days. Ireland is also more balanced, so the summer isn't unbearable like it might be in warmer countries. I can see why places that have around 40 degrees Celsius regularly would prefer winter though.

It's more like 3:30PM in Sweden, but at the same time it basically doesn't even get dark in Summer, it's bright until around 11PM and even then it's never even fully dark. It's bright again by just after 2AM.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2024 1:52 pm Probably what I hate the most is the fact that it's already dark at 5:30 PM.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #100: How many times do you take a shower per week?
We experience very high temperatures, and not gonna lie, I still prefer that over many snowy months. Living in Sweden would probably be a nightmare for me
Anyway, here you have the results! Not gonna lie, I thought I was going to be the only one who preferred summer over winter. Thanks Hunch!
A few days ago I was scrolling memes on Instagram and I found a very interesting poll about how many times people showered per week. It was very interesting to see lots of differences between different countries, so let's try this here, in RPC... The question is simple: How many times do you take a shower per week?

Usually 7-9 showers per week, 7 on most weeks but if I had a really hot walk home from school or just got a haircut then I have extra

I always preferred baths over showers, but I still take one once a week. Baths are just more relaxing in my opinion. Also, it's poll #100!

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #100: How many times do you take a shower per week?
I've always showered daily, and when it's summer there are days when I even shower twice. I'm one of those people who showers at night. I mean, I don't usually do anything to think that I need to shower again in the morning (although it's true that I do if I've sweated at night). Sitting and sleeping are not such physically demanding activities
.

At home I use the bathtub as a shower. It's been a long time since I used the bathtub properlyIthasmore wrote: Sat May 04, 2024 2:04 pm I always preferred baths over showers, but I still take one once a week. Baths are just more relaxing in my opinion. Also, it's poll #100!

For me it depends on how much I smell
, but I take at least 2 showers minimum each week.
During summer I shower almost every day for obvious reasons

Daily, and sometimes twice a day in summer if I've been sweating.

It varies depending on physical exertion, but under normal circumstances I try to do it every odd day at minimum. Some of y'all may remember when I was suffering from really bad eczema many years ago, and as such I try not to shower too often to prevent a flare up as a consequence.
On showers Vs baths, showers are deffo the expedient option, but there are times where I miss just being able to soak and melt xD

Normally I shower every other day, since I usually shave my beard at the same time. I've been showering every day and sometimes twice lately though because it's getting very warm and humid. In summer it generally makes sense to shower more. I'm going to go with 4-5 times per week though since that's roughly what it would be when it's not hot out.

Not sure if it will be useful for your case, but glicerine soaps are incredibly good for psoriasis. I know they aren't the same, but who knows...Master wrote: Tue May 07, 2024 10:52 pm Some of y'all may remember when I was suffering from really bad eczema many years ago, and as such I try not to shower too often to prevent a flare up as a consequence.
Completely shaved or just a bit (i.e., not too long)?
I always trim my beard on the weekends. Probably I should do like you and take care of it more frequently, that would make things easier and I would avoid cutting myself with the razor
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #100: How many times do you take a shower per week?
I clean shave. I never thought a beard would suit me, but maybe it's different if it's actually styled. I have thick hair though and have to shave every 2 days because of it, I feel like it gets uncomfortable. Every day is too often and makes my face way too irritated. I also like to shower first so that my face had hot water on it to soften the hair. I never used to do that until recently though. There's also stuff I would wash my face with that helps to soften it further, but I can barely ever find it in stores for some reason.DaveRattlehead wrote: Wed May 08, 2024 11:10 pm Completely shaved or just a bit (i.e., not too long)?

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #101: Which Latin language do you think is more complicated?
Before I started stylizing my beard I always shaved after showering precisely because of what you said. Now that it's stylized it's a mess so I always do it before showering.
And here you have the results! If we're not stinky then it's fine
This poll comes from another Instagram post I've seen a few days ago. The question is... Which one of these Latin languages is more complicated for you? And which one do you find the easiest? I've only included the most popular ones... It would be a mess if I included more options
.
If it's interesting for you I'll do a variation with Germanic languages too

Romanian always seemed pretty interesting to me. I thought it was almost like a mixture between the Latin and Nordic languages
and it is definitely the most complicated one to me, except actual Latin of course!

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #101: Which Latin language do you think is more complicated?
I don't know the grammar of all those languages well enough to determine which is objectively the hardest, but from the point of the view of a native French speaker, I suppose Romanian is the hardest, followed by Portuguese. Italian is definitely the easiest.
