Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #102: Would you have studied something different?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #103: Are you ashamed to admit that you like videogames?
I also managed to miss this one, but I would definitely not be ashamed to say I like games. I wonder if people a couple decades back would have, because I think ironically back then it was seen as nerdy or dorky to play games. Nowadays gaming has pretty much become so common that it doesn't get viewed in that way anymore, except maybe some grandparents who would be like "back in my day, we would actually go outside".
I still personally think the 2000s was the peak of gaming, the era with the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube etc. I really feel that just before the internet took over, games had their most charm. I mentioned it multiple times, but I think one of the main reasons games felt more "complete" is because they had to actually try to get everything done before release, where nowadays companies can just push out games and release fixes and more levels via DLC. There's less incentive to thoroughly test the game or put as much effort into things. Not saying no company ever puts effort into games these days, but you get the idea.

I like how there are no votes towards embarrassment
Yeah I wouldn’t have been afraid either way heh.

I think it's also influenced by the fact that many companies focus their products as service games. In the end, many games end up becoming products such as fast/trash food... Indies are probably out of the equationSteo wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 3:09 pm I think one of the main reasons games felt more "complete" is because they had to actually try to get everything done before release, where nowadays companies can just push out games and release fixes and more levels via DLC. So here you have the results... All my fellas are proud gamers!
Euro 2024 has reached the halfway point of the competition, and after many matches we can ask a general question... Do you like football (soccer)? What do you think about how important it is for many people?

I find it entertaining to watch and play, even if I only watch matches where Poland is playing, but nothing more. I never understood why people care so much about soccer though, its not like one team beating another is gonna end the world.

I’m not big on my footy, but I have watched a few matches now and then and I like keeping track of the score in the Euros (I’m aware Slovakia got beaten by the England so I don’t have to pay my friend a tenner
) and I do find it funny now and then to see fully grown men screaming and crying on the floor because they got tripped over to try and get a foul

I only watch a few matches myself, but I like the atmosphere during big competitions!

Congratulations on your 84000th post!
For me it's rugby or Gaelic games. Soccer just doesn't do it for me at all…

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #104: What do you think about football (soccer)?
Football is the sport I hate the most because of my country
In Italy, football is considered the most important sport and it is very difficult to find someone who doesn't support and sympathize with any team like me.
Italians are very passionate on this sport and go very overboard in supporting their favorite soccer team and usually do a lot of mess becoming very noisy and annoying.
My hatred for football was born because of a neighbor of mine who I still hear shouting every time when someone scores a goal and I can never sleep when I try to rest, he shouts so loudly that you don't even need to watch the match, just count his shouts and how he's shouting to understand who scored

Sometimes there's a black sheep in the family, right?
I like football and I watch almost all the matches of my favourite team. I'm also watching the Euro 2024, but not with high expectations, Germany will probably win us tomorrow
It's one of my favourite sports, but my favourite one is chess Formula 1.

_____
Let's move on to the next poll, which is probably more interesting for the people than football. The question is simple... How many languages can you speak? Are you learning a new one?

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #105: How many languages can you speak?
I only speak two fluently, French and English. I can have decent conversations in Italian and Georgian though, and I know a few things in Russian and German, but not enough for proper conversation.
Anyway, what should I vote? 2 for fluent or 4 for conversational?

I can speak fluent English, very good German, decent Dutch and very small amounts of Japanese. I’m also gonna be learning French in September!

Foden, Bellingham, Harry Kane... There's no way our defenders can stop them. Congrats to England.Greengoop wrote: Thu Jul 11, 2024 4:05 pm Yeah…. This place isn’t exactly spot on with their predictions![]()
I'd say 4!Hunchman801 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2024 8:51 pm I only speak two fluently, French and English. I can have decent conversations in Italian and Georgian though, and I know a few things in Russian and German, but not enough for proper conversation.

A Japanese RayWiki! I would have never imagined that
Unfortunately I'm not the best at languages. I can only speak Spanish and Valencian/Catalan, which is pretty obvious, and English. I can also understand most of the things that I read/listen in Italian and Portuguese, which is obvious too as they are very similar to Spanish. French is "similar" to Valencian and that makes me understand some things, but that's it

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #105: How many languages can you speak?
I decided to go with three, English, French and Irish, although I'd hate to be tested on that
On the other hand, I can read and sometimes even listen to Italian, and probably string some sentences together, so maybe that should count too...
