Re: What phone do you have?
S22 is the one I was going to buy, but then the Oppo was cheaper with more or less the same specs and a higher res screen (which wasn't necessary but still). What if someone was still using WAP nowadays.

Then here I am with my Sony Xperia 1V.Steo wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:18 am I'm so jealous, I wish I had one of those instead of this crappy 120Hz AMOLED screen and relatively modern chipset. I will just have to make do with what I have though, how terrible...
Re: What phone do you have?
I am the type of person to keep the same phone for about 5 years until I have to just give up and upgrade. Thing is, I always go for a high end one to be sure it will last again. It's mostly the software updates ending that kill it off for you.

Re: What phone do you have?
I have some Chinese phone where the front-facing camera is embedded inside and comes out on a little rack and pinion when I open the camera app
Re: What phone do you have?
I only got it since it was similar to my S10, I was just upgrading it since my S10 died.Steo wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:24 am S22 is the one I was going to buy, but then the Oppo was cheaper with more or less the same specs and a higher res screen (which wasn't necessary but still). What?
Re: What phone do you have?
Makes sense. I actually had an S7, S8, then Note 9, but for some reason just wanted to try something different at that point then. The phones never died but just started becoming outdated and needing custom ROMs etc. The S8 wasn't needed over the S7, but at the time I just felt like I wanted to try it. My upgrades on phones kind of spaced out again then and it always took years before bothering to change.neo wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:28 am I only got it since it was similar to my S10, I was just upgrading it since my S10 died.

Re: What phone do you have?
The only Samsung phone I've owned was the Galaxy S4, but I don't like any of the newer ones. I just don't like the Samsung stuff, nor the camera holes in the screen.

I used to be far more against Samsung phones, but these days I actually don't mind them as much. Their UI isn't quite as clunky, and they're actually amongst the better of the Android manufactureres when it comes to software support.

Nokia signed a deal with Microsoft many years ago, but it was a huge let down and they didn't give it support anymore. Basically Nokia needed that deal to survive...

Got an Iphone SE, its cheap enough, works well, and fits in my hand well. Phones these days are too big in my opinion.

Re: What phone do you have?
Yeah, I think Nokia really shot themselves in the foot relying on Symbian and then going exclusive with Windows Phone that ended up with them getting bought out. I think they could've made some really good Android phones, but I think they got arrogant and didn't really see the change that was coming after the iPhone took off. Pity that these days Nokia is just a brand now amongst many others, but I suppose that's just how things go.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 1:34 pm Nokia signed a deal with Microsoft many years ago, but it was a huge let down and they didn't give it support anymore. To be fair though, I don't think the WIndows Phones were that bad. The UI deffo operated on different fundamentals compared to the styles used by Android and iOS, but it looked rather functional and seemed to work well. I think the fact that they were late to the party and didn't really get enough headway once smartphones took off kinda doomed the whole thing though.

Re: What phone do you have?
If you got it so long ago, it’s probably an original
Re: What phone do you have?
I've switched to an Honor 5Lite 5G before Christmas because my former phone's speaker was dead. I couldn't hear jack shit of what my parents were telling me (they've been the only ones actually calling me but they do it quite a lot)
It's serviceable. Nowhere near the joy of my last Blackberry though. Those phones were the shit.
