Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
French Guyana actually.
+ Now it's time for me to be packing, since I'm leaving for home at dusk.

Preach. Due to having a new job, I could barely scrape days this year.Master wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:37 pm Gotta love cultural divides xD

And not much more, since I quit that blasted workplace and leave IT mid-september. Hopefully I can leave the field forever.

I doubt it, it’s like work work work, and then a small amount of PTO, and then the cycle repeats. I’m not working atm though so I would not entirely know how a 9-5 job works in terms of vacation time.

- I miss school holidays too. Almost 3 months of no responsibilities...
- I'll only have a week left of holidays right after this one

Yeah, I hate being a corpo bitch, but honestly I've seen how it can be for those who go out their own way and I take solace in the fact that I'm at least stable...until some exec decides to do a mass lay-off at least.
Urghh that does sound horrid, I wish you all the best in getting out if you can Pirez.Pirez wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:39 pm Preach. Due to having a new job, I could barely scrape days this year.

Let's hope! I am starting my own company and succeeding would mean finally getting to sell myself as an individual which is a tall order but I'm determined.Master wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:41 pm

Also therapy, which I've started in february, helps.
Thank you for your sollicitude anyway. I appreciate it

Ahh, like a consultant sort of approach? I know I've seen folks who go that route once they've got enough knowledge and experience, I can imagine it's probably easier on yourself cause you set the parameters of what jobs you take.

- Relatable, I have a bad tendency to procrastinate sometimes.
+ therapy is helping me to stop avoiding things and just take things head on so im glad I did this now. I do wish I had taken this initiative earlier.

If I were to stay in IT that would be it but I can't stand this workfield anymore. I'm setting up my own studio for video montages, creating and livestreaming. Already got one client that wants to talk about sewing machines because he is so passionate. Plus, my football team appreciates that I can livestream local games at "pro-level" (their word, I think I'm not there yet) without having to pay. They know I know they can't afford it : I'm the team presidentMaster wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:51 pm Ahh, like a consultant sort of approach? Honestly that sounds fucking sick, I really hope this pans out for you cause that sounds much more preferable than languishing in IT related work, from what I've seen of the profession at least.Pirez wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:57 pm If I were to stay in IT that would be it but I can't stand this workfield anymore. Yeah, I'm ASD so I know I've got some issues already, but I've been trying to see if I can get seen to for ADHD as well cause I feel like I've got some crossover, and I know full well I've had issues with distractibility and the ability to concentrate in the past. Mind you I've got friends who've got ADHD and I'll admit I don't quite struggle as much as they do, but I do see some commonality between us so I'd like to have some answers or some insight at least. Plus I can ramble like a right fuck sometimesThe Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:53 pm - Relatable, I have a bad tendency to procrastinate sometimes.

- Sadly the waiting queue for an NHS ADHD diagnosis is like years long...

Ohh, I hope you’ll be able to find the answers you seek regarding adhd soon. I started seeing a psychiatrist a couple months ago and after running some tests including my parents’ inputs he determined I did have aspects of ADHD so I started taking this non-stimulant to help with my concentration and lack of focus since those were the strongest aspects I was having.
- The drawback is that I’ve found it increases my blood pressure and my pulse which were already not in great shape due to being prediabetic and with high blood pressure (the joys of hereditary)
+ Started going to therapy around the same time, and it’s actually been really helpful. I don’t feel like I’m living aimlessly without direction anymore which has been a problem since I graduated 8 years ago and then lost out on a job opportunity a couple years afterward.
Nuts I got ninja posted lol

Huh really? I thought I was fairly open about being an aspie during my active years. Don't tend to use that term anymore mind you but yeah, I don't suppose being hyperactive on a forum dedicated a specific platforming mascot from the 90s, and being an active Wiki member didn't give any contrary implication mind xD
I suppose there's always gains and drawbacks to any medical route you take, but at the least it sounds like it's been a net positive overall? And yeah I know the feeling when it comes to direction, that hit me particularly hard during Covid since I didn't feel like I was going anywhere. The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 3:09 pm Ohh, I hope you’ll be able to find the answers you seek regarding adhd soon. Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
+ Just got issued a refund for a screen I bought (seller sent a different one than what I ordered), by winning the PayPal dispute when the seller didn't respond. This means I can also sell the screen, and it's the sellers own fault for ignoring me.
- I unfortunately bought a second one from a private seller, which was labelled as a different screen than it is, meaning it was bad quality. I can't do anything about this but sell it on and just be honest about what it really is, since there's no way to prove the private seller could even know it was "fake".
+ Despite all of that, I finally got a decent screen for my laptop the other day, and I'm happy with it.
I honestly have no idea why they make such low grade screens which only cover 64% sRGB in the first place (two thirds colour, one third missing). Why would anyone want that in a laptop for any reason ever.
