It feels weird not only knowing about this place since you're a kid, but also knowing that when you were a kid some people here were almost adults!

Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
In fact, RaymanZone wasn't even my first Rayman community, as I remember being a member of philippe317 's French-speaking Rayman forum "Le monde de Rayman", which was active until RZ was launched. That was back in 2002, though I have no idea when I joined exactly. Or maybe as early as 2001? Not sure...
Anyway, it does feel weird to realize that you've been active in the community for over 22 years already.

Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
Yeah, I did a bit of research and archive.org has a few snapshots from the forum index, from January 22 2003 to March 29 2003. After that, it seems to have fallen prey to a group of Brazilian hackers. The precursors of ARZO, maybe?
No topics appear to have archived, but the site itself, which used the redirect www.rayman2.fr.st, is archived here and there.

I made my account in december 2004, so my 20th anniversary is coming up. Didn't really become an active member until about 2006 (I think), and it's been at least ten years (if not more) since I posted here somewhat regularly.

Huh, that's an interesting fact I wasn't quite aware of, how cool!Hunchman801 wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:52 am In fact, RaymanZone wasn't even my first Rayman community, as I remember being a member of philippe317 's French-speaking Rayman forum "Le monde de Rayman", which was active until RZ was launched. Yeah, for me RaymanZone was my first Rayman community, and RaymanPC was the second. Of the two, we see which clearly lasted.

Woah, I've been here for 4 years now just about.
I was a bit quiet for a while though...I hope to be a little bit more active here.

Yeah, this community is very well loved, it'll be here for another few decades easily. As long as Hunchman is around, this community will be.

There will be worse and better years, but as long as the fans keep that will, RPC won't die
Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
It's clear that other platforms like Discord are kind of taking over compared to forums, but forums still have things to offer that you don't get in Discord. You do have forum settings on there too, but very simple things like finding results on a search engine etc. There are still several use cases for forums.

Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
Except Discord keeps making dumb choices and making their platform worse, but the people who left Discord in favor of... what was it called again? The one that got bought basically by Roblox? Then those people left that to come back to Discord because of a Roblox account enforcement?Steo wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:13 pm It's clear that other platforms like Discord are kind of taking over compared to forums, but forums still have things to offer that you don't get in Discord. Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
I didn't know about this, but yeah Discord are really trying to go downhill. Even the Android version has been terrible and half broken for well over a year ever since they went to React Native for development, and they won't revert.

Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
Discord is a really terrible app, but that's the instant messaging platform of choice, so it's the place to be for now if you're looking to chat! But I have no doubts it will eventually get overshadowed by another platform, just like it took over Skype which in turn replaced MSN.
As for IM apps and forums, they are complementary and serve different purposes. It's true that there's been a shift towards the former, but I don't see forums disappearing completely. I mean, look at this place!

Re: How long have you been on the pirate community?
It's just there's nothing to compete with Discord right now, and it basically dominated when people were tired of the crap Skype was turning into. Only reason MSN died was because of Microsoft killing it in favor of Skype when they bought it. Sadness...Hunchman801 wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 7:35 pm Discord is a really terrible app, but that's the instant messaging platform of choice, so it's the place to be for now if you're looking to chat! Yeah, IM and forums both have their own place still, I feel. Forums might not be as popular where everyone and their brother wants one, but hey. This place, the likes of AVSforum and many more exist as busy as ever.
