You got the results confirmed yet, Dave?
Re: Record day compilation
I am curious to know if the Pareto principle is respected given all of us old timers that came back.

Re: Record day compilation
What would the Pareto principle have to do with old members?
Re: Record day compilation
My guess would be a more even distribution on the number of messages, given that there were more participating members with a small to medium number of post.

Re: Record day compilation
So you reckon that the top members did more posts than everyone else?
Re: Record day compilation
Yes as always, but we may be farther away from the 80/20 distribution.

Re: Record day compilation
I’d say more like 60% done by the main active members and 40% done by less active members

Re: Record day compilation
Considering the provisional results, we can confirm the Pareto principle is respected, and actually you're the last one of that 20% of people!LoveMetal wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:02 am I am curious to know if the Pareto principle is respected given all of us old timers that came back.![]()
As I had the Excel sheet from last year it was very easy to calculate it... Once it's checked everything's alright we'll distribute the tings and I'll show you the stats
Most of the daily (or almost daily) active users are inside that 20% of people, so it must be around 80-20 again.Greengoop wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:26 am I’d say more like 60% done by the main active members and 40% done by less active members
It would be more interesting so see the % of posts done by veterans as they're not usually around
Re: Record day compilation
It did for me since I left from home early *ba dum tss*LoveMetal wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:02 am I am curious to know if the Pareto principle is respected given all of us old timers that came back.![]()

Re: Record day compilation
I think that's how it should be! Of course the goal is to post a lot, if you find something interesting you should take the time to read it, and if you feel like writing a long post you shouldn't refrain yourself from doing so either! Having fun is the primary goal here.Said wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:51 pm myes i quite agree, sometimes i forgot we where doing a record even lol, i got lost in the nice topics![]()

Re: Record day compilation
There wouldn’t be any point of record day if it wasn’t fun
Re: Record day compilation
i agree! thanks for the replies also, i do try to make my posts feel formal and organized, but maybe next year i will relax a little with how i write and just go with the flow of things
Re: Record day compilation
Sometimes it can be harder to think of what to say on the day, and harder to keep track of responding to others. I still mostly just tried to respond to people without rushing, and it was fun.

Yeah, it’s kinda “make a discord message or nothing” at some timesSteo wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:29 pm Sometimes it can be harder to think of what to say on the day, and harder to keep track of responding to others. I still mostly just tried to respond to people without rushing, and it was fun.
Edit: Are you all ready to add the list onto the main post?

Re: Record day compilation
We're checking everything's alright (no double posts, no spam, etc.). It's a manual work which requires some time, so be patient guys!

Re: Record day compilation
Yup, we've seen them, but as I said, we need to check other posts, like those double posts when the server crashed...
Once everything's clear the final results will be updated

Re: Record day compilation
So, the results have been updated, time to show the stats! This post is sponsored by Microsoft Excel
Posts per year: the negative trend has been reverted and we've achieved our best result since 2018! We have posted even more than we did in 2007, which was realistically our goal. I'm very sure nobody would have imagined this a couple of years ago
Participants per year: again, we have an amazing stat here... It's the 4th year with more participants, only behind 2012, 2013 and 2014! I truly believe this has been one of the best editions of Record Day the forum has ever had
Correlation between participants and posts: our data from this year is behind the line tendence. Of course, the quality of the posts during the event won't be the best, but it's good that we're behind the tendence, because this implies the posts aren't just shitposting, etc.
Also, if we consider the data of the last 4 years, in which the rules were stricter in regards of spam, there's almost a perfect correlation!
Pareto: again, the Pareto principle is respected. Considering the top 20% (from Jonster to LoveMetal), you can find 81.14% of the posts!
As I'm also posting the nerd stats, it's also time for some nerd facts...

- There were 20 personal records.
- Second year in a row someone has more than 1000 posts.
- Veterans who weren't active before Record Day (or started being active a few days before Record Day) posted 19.4% of the total posts, being Hoodcom the one who posted more. Without their contribution the result from 2007 wouldn't have been beaten.
- Second year in a row there's at least one all-nighter.
- Greengoop is for the second year in a row the second user with more posts. The last one who did this was Jonster (2021 and 2022).
- Jonster is for the second year in a row the one with more posts. The last one who did this was PluM (2021 and 2022).
- 8/10 people of the top 10 in 2023 are again in the top 10 of this year.
