Art parodies in Rayman games

Post by Rock_TBT »

In promotional artwork for Rayman 2, there are references to the paintings ''The Raft of the Medusa'' by Théodore Géricault, ''Self-portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe'' by Vincent van Gogh, ''Vertumnus'' by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, ''The Birth of Venus'' by Sandro Botticelli, ''Soft Self-Portrait with Grilled Bacon'' by Salvador Dali, ''M-Maybe'' by Roy Lichtenstein, ''The Kiss'' by Gustav Klimt, ''Portrait of Dora Maar'' by Pablo Picasso, ''Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow'' by Piet Mondrian, ''The Big Family'' by René Magritte, ''Vega Kontosh'' by Victor Vasarely, ''Shot Marilyns'' by Andy Warhol, ''The Water-Lily Pond'' by Claude Monet, ''Blue Nude XI'' by Henri Matisse and 'T'he Smile of the Flamboyant Wings'' by Joan Miró.

Inside the game of Rayman 1, there is a reference to the painting "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci.

Inside the game of Rayman 3, there is a reference to the painting "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci and the Knaaren holding up the plate is a reference to the painting Atlas holding up the celestial globe by Guercino.

Inside the game of Rayman Raving Rabbids, there is a reference to the painting "This Is Not a Pipe" (The Treachery of Images) by René Magritte and a photograph of Abraham Lincoln by Alexander Gardner.

Write a reply, if I missed any reference.
