Why would they remake the recent games ? that doesn't make sense, it's in the name "recent"The Jonster wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:28 pm Yeah it’s nice that this is confirmed. As long as it’s not a remake of recent games, I’ll keep my interest here. But again, still going to keep my hope to a minimum.

I suppose "recent" is relative, Legends is a decade old.

They're bringing Michel Ancel back for a remaster/remake? They should make a new 3D Rayman game instead.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I'm not anywhere as excited for a remake as I would be for a new installment, but by "remake" they could mean a lot of things, so let's wait for more details. I'll take anything that's in 3D and has no pig latin in it at this point.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, Beyond Good and Evil 2 was announced a long time ago and is still nowhere to be seen, so there's always the risk of development hell.

I just saw this quote in the OP:
If there's one consistency about the Rayman Universe, it's how inconsistent it is.
“As creator of the Rayman brand, Michel Ancel is being consulted to ensure consistency within the universe,” the Ubisoft rep told Kotaku.

That's a good point, Ancel was very involved in Rayman Origins and yet that game pretty much shat on the lore of the previous ones.
But hey, I just feel like being optimistic this time. They can always read RayWiki if they're not sure about something.

Yes he was also involved in Rayman 2, which had totally changed the lore and the appearance of the glade, unlike Origins which respected the previous appearance much more, if you had said Legends I would have understoodHunchman801 wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 11:23 pm That's a good point, Ancel was very involved in Rayman Origins and yet that game pretty much shat on the lore of the previous ones.

Yeah, nope, no thanks, not getting excited over something this early in development that could easily get scrapped like the last three 3D Rayman games, bye bye!

What if it was a 3D remake of Rayman Legends...in the style of Rayman 2?

Rayman 2 introduced a lot of new things, but very few, if any, conflicted with the lore of the original game. You can't say the same about Origins, unfortunately...Dumbo TV wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:22 am Yes he was also involved in Rayman 2, which had totally changed the lore and the appearance of the glade, unlike Origins which respected the previous appearance much more, if you had said Legends I would have understood![]()
Speaking of which.... please make Barbara and every other human character go away. Make Rayman great again.Master wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 7:47 am What if it was a 3D remake of Rayman Legends...in the style of Rayman 2?![]()

Greengoop would probably end Dumbo first for secretly wanting this, and then off himself cuz of how much he hates Rayman 2What if it was a 3D remake of Rayman Legends...in the style of Rayman 2?![]()
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
This reminds me of a an interview I recently saw with Ubisoft from a magazine promoting Rayman 2 on PS1 in 2000. There they say:Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 9:46 amRayman 2 introduced a lot of new things, but very few, if any, conflicted with the lore of the original game. Kind of funny they're saying it's "not a sequel" while it's named "Rayman 2"Actually, this game is not a sequel, it is a new version of the game using the character of the original Rayman PlayStation blockbuster.

That's an interesting take, especially since the article was published well after the release of the original version. The manual of Rayman 2 does reference the events of the first game, after all.RayCarrot wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 10:14 am Kind of funny they're saying it's "not a sequel" while it's named "Rayman 2"![]()

It's a staple of the franchise. After all, a game called Origins ends up not being a prequel.Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 10:35 am That's an interesting take, especially since the article was published well after the release of the original version. Gotta love that ConSIsTeNcy we've always been having huh.
(No I'm not letting that go, I don't actually care about it, this discussion has proven how little consistency has been the way since the series started - as much as I like the conceptual ideas in some games. I just find it hilarious that's the rationale they're giving.)

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
It's like what a friend of mine recently said - the only common factor between all Rayman games is that they have big trees (I guess due to Michel Ancel's love for nature) and breakable cages. I would add plums to it too, but they never made it into the ubiart games (even though they were planned for Origins)

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
And Rayman sleeping in every intro.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Reg. the new rumors, it hasn't been discussed here yet but there are some more concerning signs about this project. Giacomo has made several tweets which hint at things maybe not going so well behind the scenes and that we might be in for a disappointment. There was also some remark last month about AI being used in Rayman which may or may not be related.
Then there's the fact that multiple key people from Milan have been leaving this year, and some sources say that internally there is tension between Montpellier and Milan with this project, especially with Michel Ancel's involvement.
It's been more or less confirmed that the DLC in Sparks of Hope helped initiate this comeback. So I think we can assume that Milan pitched a Rayman game after finishing Sparks of Hope. That would be in line with what we've seen from the developers there, and I have other reasons to believe it as well. But Ubisoft is apparently very hesitant on letting anyone outside of France use Rayman (this was even the case for the DLC). This is most likely why Montpellier also got involved with this project. To me this sounds like Milan lost a lot of their creative control on the project and might be why some of them have left the company.
We've also heard that the Prince of Persia team which was disbanded is being moved to other projects, including Rayman, but that a lot of them aren't happy about it due to how the project is being managed, causing some of them to leave the company.
So although I'm very happy that Rayman might be returning I also think there is some cause for concern here.
