Re: Rayman 1
You mean when reading or checking it?
Re: Rayman 1
Have these sprites at the bottom left corner of each world's tileset ever been explained?

Re: Rayman 1
Yeah these are the collision type graphics. You can view them in the Mapper by pressing T on your keyboard. You can also view them on Ray1Map
Re: Rayman 1
I hope this isn't too far away from the topic of the game itself but I just really want this question answered; What sort of cake is Candy Chateau?
I really want to get or even bake a cake inspired by it but I can't pinpoint anything specific. The most I can say is that it might be a black forest cake but strawberry flavored & with chocolate squares on the side. But I also wanna encompass things like the obstacles & what not so I'd have to add bars of turron or something with bits of nougat or idk what. I just really wanna eat Candy Chateau on my 21st Birthday!

This cake is a fruity tooty mess!
I suspect it is a black forest cake but I'm not sure because it's origins are German & I thought the Michelle & his crew would have been inspired by the desserts around them which would have been French.
Please help me! I need to know what that level tastes like!

The floor just looks like a chocolate cake with strawberry icing and Rayman’s footprints
Re: Rayman 1
Alright, so a chocolate cake with strawberry cream frosting & maybe some ice-cream on top?
What are the nougat bars? Are they Turron?
-
I did some research & it might really be topped with nougat bars!

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a simple cake flavour. But you’re right about there being toppings like nougat bars
Re: Rayman 1
I found this Chinese version intro audio in the folder of the Dos Chinese version game.

Re: Rayman 1
Is Rayman Redemption true to R1? I have it but I'm having doubts and just considering buying Rayman Forever from the official Ubi store. But I also really don't wanna miss out on the awesome music since all Rayman music is beautiful... and apparently Rayman Forever is missing almost entirely all of it..
Also also, I'm not very adventurous and play unfamiliar games on easy mode, is it like Redemption where there's like a relaxed setting? I heard it's hard, but I also heard from others it's really not that bad.

Re: Rayman 1
You really should have both. Redemption is a re-imagining. It is made in the style of Rayman 1 and with similar progressions, bust most of the levels are different.
Also, with Rayman Forever you are getting the extra levels of Rayman Designer (which are quite good) and Rayman by his Fans (which are quite bad).
I would go with Rayman Forever from GOG when it goes on sale. Yes, some builds of the game have broken music, but there are community-made patches that fix that (you can use Rayman Control Panel).

That's nice, do you think you could transcribe its content some day?Game Ze 2 wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:00 pm I found this Chinese version intro audio in the folder of the Dos Chinese version game.
No it's not, but like dr_st said, it is a reimagining, and a pretty good one! There are some downsides, such as the lower quality of the assets used for the new environments and some gameplay mechanics that don't feel as precise and satisfying as in the original game, but it certainly deserves your attention. Of course, the only true Rayman 1 will always be Rayman 1, and you should definitely play it first.

Re: Rayman 1
Heh, even as a Rayman 1 fanatic, I'd say you shouldn't force yourself to play the original if you don't want to, as excellent as it was for its time.
It's mostly worth trying for the sake of experiencing the Rayman that started it all at least once and see how much has changed and evolved in Redemption, but I won't blame anyone for rejecting R1 as it feels pretty clunky in terms of gameplay now compared to Redemption's incredible smoothness.
Many still find its difficulty to be beyond frustrating (never been my case, but I can see why others would have a problem with it), while Redemption has a proper difficulty curve and mostly keeps the pain for its final world and its optional final challenges. Most of it is easy/medium in terms of difficulty compared to the 1995 game.
Redemption also has "difficulty" modes, with Casual giving you infinite lives and extra Tings when you pick up more lives, Classic having the limited lives, and Demise being a nightmarish experience with less HP harmful power-ups and no checkpoints or cheat codes!
It's also a more pleasant experience on the technical side compared to the official PC game as it does support widescreen gameplay, has a nicer look especially with the high-quality backgrounds and the foreground effects from the console versions, suffers from no hiccups like weird buzzing sounds that may happen during loadings (which I got when playing Forever and even patching it through the Rayman Control Panel), so you wouldn't have to mess around to fix anything that may be wrong...
The original does have advantages like a few animations which went missing in Redemption, the classic bonus levels and the charm/hilarity of the hammer bullets which got taken away in the fan remake*, or some version specific things like the funny end of level transitions in the Saturn release.
Though, Rayman Forever is worth it if you want the classic Designer which has exclusive levels and a level editor that's still unmatched in its possibilities even by ReDesigner also made by Ryemanni (although Designer is clunkier to use by comparison and ReDesigner has Redemption's smoother gameplay and plenty of extra items/mechanics which neither had)... and there's Rayman By His Fans for 40 extra stages if you're really desperate for more.
I'd say it's a good purchase regardless of anything especially on sale (barely costing a thing when it happens), but you don't necessarily have to force yourself playing all of the original if you end up not enjoying it.
And as dr_st said, there are patches to easily resolve the music issues in Forever. https://www.gog.com/forum/rayman_series/rayman_pc_faq
*On that note, I don't even get why Ryemanni did that as a way to bridge R1 and Origins, as the Origins Hunters don't even shoot bullets but missiles... And even then, I just want to say: why not both? Adding eyes doesn't take any of the hammer's space! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm curious what Michel Ancel's opinion of Rayman Redemption is, but I guess we'll never know.
Though, I'd assume he'd have a nuanced opinion, acknowledging its positives even though he'd do things his own way.

Re: Rayman 1
Oh nice! Thank you all. I was pondering this for a while and wasn't sure. I heard from everywhere it's like "the better version of R1!" it's "basically just R1!' Glad to know that I've just been playing Redemption thinking it was just Rayman 1. I'll totally pick it up whenever I can!

Rayman!
(No problem)
你要挺身而出
要寻找所有的电子 然后再从神秘的偷盗者那里把大质子救出来
但是那些坏东西会让他这样做吗?
