Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
Can you give us any source that they are somehow linked besides that their music sounds similar?
Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
I met with such a posts twice recently, during reading about Rayman 2 on an equivalent of English IMDb.
But sure, maybe his existing music enough. I just say. Maybe someone heard Elfman.

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
I gotta say that I did think of this when I watched Men In Black I & II a while back. In those films, I find it very apparent how Chevalier's and Elfman's music are similar in certain aspects. I just coined it as "happy coincidence" and thought how funny it was that they're both great musical influences of mine, but I never managed to connect the two before rewatching that first MIB movie and realising "hey - this actually sounds a lot like Éric's work".deton24 wrote:Hey people, I just read that Chevalier's music strongly reminds compositions of Danny Elfman.
Some people were thinking that Chevalier is his nickname. Apparently Elfman has something to do with Chevalier's compositions.
Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
Yessss, I'm getting the Chevalier vibes already.deton24 wrote:I haven't seen that topic before.
If anyone interested, Chevalier was involved in a great music project "Era" accurately in 2003. Actually, the 1st album is the most popular.
"Era mixes Gregorian chants and occasionally world music with contemporary electronic arrangements."
Programmed By [Loops And Keyboard Programming] – Eric Chevalier
I love it when people mix different genres with sort of interesting 'modern beats' and sounds.

Let's get Mr. Chevalier to write music for Revenge of the Dark.

You have phone numbers to actors and chairmen like Nintendo.DandyGuy wrote:Does IMDB Pro actually work?gamerz31w wrote:Try IMDB Pro.
Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
Just popping in to say that in preparation of a future RayTunes update, I've done a bit of research on Eric Chevalier and found out what he is doing.
First, I thought I was on to something when I found out there's a French composer called "Eric Chevallier" who's been composing for TV movies for a while now. If you look on the Chevallier-with-two-l's LinkedIn page, you'll see that he worked for "Studio Merjithur", which is also mentioned on Eric Chevalier-with-one-l's Mobygames page.
But it's not the same guy. Note that his photo doesn't match the illustration on the R2 composer's blog at all. However, that illustration does match this Eric Chevalier right here, and the information on that page matches the four names in one of his unfinished blog posts.
You can even see this Eric Chevalier directing various musicians in this video (basically one of the videos Shrooblord posted in the OP, but everyone ignored it), where the description presents him as a very talented composer.

Yep, that's our Eric Chevalier. Or at least, I'm 95% sure of it.
Currently, a more up to date overview of his work as composer and music programmer for various French artists can be found here. It seems he doesn't compose for video games anymore though.
Man, I'd love to see this guy do something similar to what Rémi Gazel is doing now with the Rayman 1 live project.

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
It would be great if Rémi's project succeeded and flourished some interest to other composers to do identical projects. I would equally be glad to pledge!Drolpiraat wrote:

I think I found a correlation between the two. Take a listen,deton24 wrote:Hey people, I just read that Chevalier's music strongly reminds compositions of Danny Elfman.

Thank you so much for your research, Droolie!
I do hope that would be him: I've been wanting to connect a human person to that beautiful, heart-wrenchingly inspiring music I've known and loved for years and years and years.

This sounds like it could have been composed by Eric Chevalier.
There was a picture on that site:

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
It definitely is composed by him. It's completely his style. Apple Music lists "Simple Wonders", one of the related albums on the site you linked, under his name too. Great to finally hear more from him!
Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
Oooh!! Holy shit, I'm so excited, that album is so awesome, it has the Rayman 2 vibe, mmm! It's like rediscovering my childhood - if I had one, L0L
Turns out he's also on Spotify, oh man, December may have already started but I know who's gonna turn up on my "most listened artists" list!
...that's gonna be Muse or Serj Tankian, but anyway, I'm definitely gonna listen to a lot of Mr. Chevalier now!

One of my favourites is the "Silly Clockwork" track from the album "Mr Chevalier's Cabinet of Curiosities".

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
Bump.
Of a very old topic, I know, but I think it's pertinent.
During last years, I discovered that our dear composer Éric Chevalier took care of the music of another Ubi Soft creation: the videogame adaptation of Dinosaur, Disney animated film from 2000!
You can find complete soundtrack here:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 8RB1B9C4d5
Some tracks really remind me his work on Rayman 2, you can hear a "Chevalier style".
I've been so happy to discover this, as I played this Dinosaur game as a child, and at this time, I already enjoyed the music!
The one when the Carnotaurus chase Aladar (Mission 9) was terrifying!
Reminds me when Jano chases Rayman in the Cave of Bad Dreams.
This mean Éric Chevalier is behind the soundtrack of 2 videogames of my childhood, it's awesome!
Rayman 2 is from 1999, and Dinosaur game is from 2000 like the movie, maybe Mr. Chevalier worked on other Ubi Soft games before or after these years.
On another subject, still related to Rayman composers, did you know Christophe Héral is behind the soundtrack of 2022 deck-building game Foretales?
Maybe someone already reported it on the forum, as it's more recent.

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
So the list of soundtracks Éric Chevalier composed for Ubi Soft:
- Tonic Trouble
- Rayman 2
- Dinosaur
Wonderbox The Adventure Maker wasn't made by Ubi, but maybe there were other games for which Mr Chevalier composed music I'm not aware of?

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
He also composed for Largo Winch: Empire Under Threat and the (notoriously badly reviewed) Charlie's Angels game.deton24 wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:13 pm So the list of soundtracks Éric Chevalier composed for Ubi Soft:

He also did an early version of the soundtrack for The Animated Series, which unfortunately we don't have anything more from than this one clip.
I've also heard his music in an early trailer for Hype: The Time Quest - the final game's music & composer are totally different.

Re: Where can we find Éric Chevalier?
I just opened one track at random, and I must agree, it could almost be from a Rayman 2 level!boomboleros7 wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 10:11 pm Some tracks really remind me his work on Rayman 2, you can hear a "Chevalier style".![]()
