Does Russia count?Hunchman801 wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 12:58 am Here we go, the first post has been updated, and I'm happy to kick off season 9 of The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz!
I'll try to switch themes often, but the first question will be about geography!
Question 1: What is the largest country primarily located in Europe?

I’d assume not, so I’d say France

I guess Russia's not "primarily" in Europe, so I'll go Ukraine

Re: The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz – Season 9 - Hunchman801
Russia is obviously the largest country on the list, but with only 23% of its territory located in Europe, it's not the right answer! As for Ukraine, it is the largest country that is entirely in Europe (603,549 km²), and the second largest country by European area after Russia, but it's not the right answer either, because Goop snatches the first point with France and its 643,801 km², 543,941 (84%) of which are in Europe. For reference, Germany is only 357,581 km².

It happens basically when an object gets close to a black hole, it suffers an extreme compression/stretching due to the strong gravitational forces.

That's correct, but not quite specific enough. Why spaghettification exactly?

It's because the objects are stretched into thin/elongated shapes... Like an spaghetti
In the end is a result of very strong tidal forces.

Re: The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz – Season 9 - Hunchman801
I think it's because the gravitational field has such a strong gradient that one end of the object experiences much higher force than the other, so it gets stretched out and pulled apart into chunks.
Re: The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz – Season 9 - Hunchman801
When you cross the event horizon of a black hole, time will slow and everything gets stretched to such a point that you look like you're stretched infinitely. It's like when you fly above and away from something, your vision of this object will become smaller and smaller until it's like a dot, with a black hole it's the same but in the opposite way.Hunchman801 wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:53 am That's correct, but not quite specific enough. PluM nailed it! It's because the gravitiational field is already so much stronger at one end of the object than at the other.

Re: The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz – Season 9 - Hunchman801
I believe you're mistaken with Anglicanism which is Western Orthodoxy but since I don't have a more accurate answer I can't be certain.

Like Pirez said, you're thinking about the separation of Anglicanism from Catholicism. I'm not sure I've ever seen it referred to as "Western Orthodoxy" though.
Re: The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz – Season 9 - Hunchman801
I'm gonna guess that this had to do with the split of the western and easter Roman empire and Constantinople trying to be the Rome in the east, forming their own counter church? So I'm going to say the council of Constantinople?Hunchman801 wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 10:01 am PluM nailed it! To clarify, I'm talking about the Oriental Orthodox churches, not the Eastern Orthodox church, despite the confusingly similar names.

An ecumenical council, where church authorities gather to rule on various matters.
