No no, I think the English translation is also right in a sense. For making Murfy 3 snarky and near useless after the beginning phase. And I don't need to bring up his infamous quote either do I?
A few mistranslations popped into my head today. At least twice towards the end of Rayman 3, André uses the verb "toucher à" to refer to Rayman hitting something, but the translators took it to have a sense of "grabbing hold of". Specifically, he talks about not letting Rayman "get his mitts on the Horrible Machine", or "get ahold of the Sceptre". Rayman doesn't grab hold of either of those things, nor does he want to. He simply punches them with his fists.
Even worse is right after the Horrible Machine, where he shouts at one of the Slapdashes "mais enfin, il est tout seul, stoppez-le!". It's translated as "he's finally alone, stop him!", which doesn't make much sense – Rayman's always alone, it's a single-player game! I think a better translation might have been "there's only one of him, stop him already!"
