Well at least you have a good excuse now! You used up half your continues on Bongo Hills, the other half on Allegro Presto.

I remember when I played online port of GameBoy Color Rayman 1 when Rayman froze in motion at one point or even Rayman Moonjump in some sort of french website or should I rather call it mooncrawl.

I was dabbling in playing some Rayman by His Fans and I kept raging at levels probably made by 7 year olds (at the time, atleast) :boon:

I am not excited for the actual game if this is what I have to put up with already :mefiant:

Rayman By His Fans has the worst levels among all Rayman 1 spin-offs. Probably precisely because it was made by amateur level designers (based on some templates provided by Ubisoft; that's why many levels have identical layouts)

I have rayman by his fans and kinda wanted to check out the “early creativity” amongst the rayman fanbase. Then I heard all this negativity and just sorta ruled against it

Rayman Designer and Rayman 60 Levels are much better samples of this early creativity, even if they were designed by Ubisoft employees.

Yeah but it's a whole nother level of embarrassment if you're raging, dying, and getting lost/confused on levels made by literal kids

They're still kind of fun but it also pains me a lot :confus:

There is at least one of them which has a game-breaking bug, that can potentially softlock. This is a no-no. Mostly it's just that they get boring with the same layout being used over and over.

As a big fan of learning about softlocks, this intrigued me

Read about it here:

It's probably wrong to call it a soft-lock. A soft-lock is more of a logical bug in the map design. This bug, I believe, is caused by applying certain tile types where the engine can't properly handle them.

Could you consider it a hard lock then?

Well, no I guess, it technically is a softlock, because the game doesn't crash, but you are just stuck in the death animation, unable to move, unable to die. You have to quit and restart the level.

Ah, so is the difference between a softlock and a hardlock solely because one is somewhat escapable and the other pretty much ruins your well-spent money?

Both prevent you from moving forward in a game. The difference is that a soft lock can still let you do things to an extent. You might be able to workaround the issues by using previous states/saves but worst case scenario, you have to start the game fresh.

Why do a lot of people think you only fight Mr Dark in the GBC version of Rayman 1? I always assumed that those mixed up bosses you fight was just Mr Dark shapeshifting since he is a wizard, the bosses even have Mr Dark's face on their health bar.
