Why doesn't the Bubble Dreamer help Rayman and co?

I get that he couldn't fight the Robo-Pirates during Rayman 2 because he was asleep but he did nothing to help in Rayman Origins and Legends despite not being asleep. He is a literal god yet he never does anything to help.

Lazy bastard doesn't do shit, Ales Mansay was right.

In all seriousness, I wonder if it's to do with the nature of the enemies. In Rayman 2 the enemies were alien, they weren't from the Glade of Dreams and thus part of its inherent fabric. Compare that to the enemies of Rayman Origins and Legends, who are explicitly stated to be nightmares (of Polokus), and I wonder if their nature of being his nightmares means he can't just destroy them in the same sense. While lore is sketchy to rely upon given the series' wonderful inability to have a consistent canon and lore, if we go off the stuff that supplementary Origins material suggests - we know that Rayman was born to fight and defeat Jano, the original nightmare. That could be taken as further implication that Polokus can't harm his nightmares the way he can harm the Pirates.

I origins he lost his memory, but in rayman legends he might not want to lose it again and almost cost the entire glade to “prove he’s not lazy”

If we had to explain this, I would have the same theory as Master. That would explain why Polokus doesn't help:

- in all UbiArt games against his nightmares, Ales Mansay and Mr. Dark

- in Rayman Raving Rabbids, since Rabbids are also his creations

- and also in Rayman 3. Even if they are transformed, Black Lums remain Lums. I doubt Polokus can do anything against his own creators.

That would also explain why the Glade of Dreams needs heroes like Rayman and his friends, and why no other alien force tried to attack the Glade since Rayman 2. Polokus would destroy any soldier as soon as they touch the ground.

In the air he is an vulnerable as a newborn. Maybe all the games after 2 secretly take place in the sky.

Well there are points in 3 and Origins where the player is literally in the sky so that could be valid. Dunno about Legends though…

Sir, I’ll have you know that in Rayman Legends, there is 1 level that takes place entirely in the sky, and another level that utilises the theme of the sky in a boss fight (I’m also not sure if you can describe toad story as the sky)

Thanks in advance

I think despite his power, the Bubble Dreamer is also susceptible to nightmares and negative emotions. These can manifest as monsters and dangers in the Glade of Dreams. It's possible he's not always in control or aware of what's happening.
