I mean Globox indeed. For many years, as I explained here and here, there was a misconception going around that Globox's species is the "Glute". This was written on Wikipedia, and even made its way into the French book "L'histoire de Rayman", despite being based on mistranslations in the English version of Rayman 3.WPTheModder wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 2:37 pm Also, (I had to search up deuteragonist for this) I'm assuming you mean Globox? I just thought his species was... well.. Globox. Or a Fakir since he was originally red. Or just a frog. Who knows? Atleast we know Rayman is a thingamajig.![]()

Re: Rayman Origins
That's interesting, how could that even happen? In R2 isn't there a thing called "The Father of All Globox"? I feel as though it would be obvious Globox would be... well.. a Globox.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 7:01 pm I mean Globox indeed. I haven't played through R3 yet so im not going to mention anything from there, but the only real time they call Globox a glute is Legends where you see the character descriptions. They're obviously saying he's on the heavier side in both games. Though it was a mistranslation, it should've been caught sooner!
And back to my original post, Globox being originally red may elude to him perhaps being a Fakir at some point (since he was in some sort of red clan) before he was stung by the blubberflies... or whatever those things were called
And yes. They're orange, but my theory is that they're just so old that their skin is faded.

Re: Rayman Origins
I wouldn't say she settled on the species' name, she just didn't know what to call him (like you said) and used a word that is, as its definition in the dictionary states, "used to refer to or address a person or thing whose name one has forgotten, does not know, or does not wish to mention". She could just have used the words "something" or "whatever" instead.WPTheModder wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 3:32 pm I personally think it fits mainly because of how Betilla didn't even know what to call him so she settled on his species' name as a Thingamajig. Really fits in well with their marketing campaign for RO at the time where the game was labelled as "The new crazy!" or something like that.

Re: Rayman Origins
Very flawed logic, since that was entirely a fabricated myth by the storytellers of the glade, supposed to represent ancient myths that explain why the world is a certain way. No, Globox was never blue, but his species is likely related to FakirsWPTheModder wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:58 pm And back to my original post, Globox being originally red may elude to him perhaps being a Fakir at some point (since he was in some sort of red clan) before he was stung by the blubberflies... or whatever those things were

Re: Rayman Origins
Ah, true. I always had interpreted it as her just naming his species that, since moments before she had created Rayman. I feel like the name does fit his species though, since he's just... well.. whatever he is. I guess it's just the species' non-official name. Who knows?Hunchman801 wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:35 pm I wouldn't say she settled on the species' name, she just didn't know what to call him (like you said) and used a word that is, as its definition in the dictionary states, "used to refer to or address a person or thing whose name one has forgotten, does not know, or does not wish to mention". Also, I actually never knew this. I thought the stories were true since there's honestly just not a lot to go off of in Origins anyways. I should read up more.Greengoop wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 5:27 pm That was entirely a fabricated myth by the storytellers of the glade, supposed to represent ancient myths that explain why the world is a certain way.
Though, RO is quite confusing anyways. I think I've hit a new record for getting so many things wrong in one conversation..

Well, one thing rayman origins makes very clear is that it has no damn clue on how to tell a story

I never knew how confusing it was. When I first played it I thought nothing of it but then when you really think of it... there's really just no story at all!

It’s really ironic, considering the game was made to fox up all the inconsistencies

I wonder what that’d be like

Re: Rayman Origins
Rayman was first summoned by a fox, his and Globox’s species are both foxes, and the magicians are different fox breeds!

Re: Rayman Origins
I just started playing Rayman origins again on the PS3, and, you know what? I’m saying it.
Rayman Legends is a better game.
I have lots of reasons to say this. The main one I’m only just picking up on is that it feels… freer. I mean, it’s barely less linear, just I can complete levels in one go instead of having to take 2-3 trips through them. It feels a lot more adventurous and the levels being more flat and open definitely contribute to this

Re: Rayman Origins
So, at this point it's become a tradition for me to play Origins with my boyfriend whenever I go on vacation to visit him. This time, however, we only had a little bit of time for it. He tried playing one level by himself, I believe in the Ticklish Temples, and he fell so many times in a row at the very start that Murfy's "This place is really dangerous!" screen appeared. I just about died laughing, especially since he hates Murfy!
1. I prefer the art style of Origins.
2. Origins has Electoons, and Legends does not (besides technically on the doors).
I respectfully disagree, for two main reasons.

Re: Rayman Origins
I remember when I first played the game and continously redid stages in the latter half of the game, I would freak out when Murfy showed up with the "This Place is Dangerous!" screen. One of the only times I really did get annoyed with him! I don't give up easily when it comes to completing things.

That's one thing Legends has over Origins! At least it doesn't have a story so there were no destroyed expectations there!Greengoop wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 8:19 am Well, one thing rayman origins makes very clear is that it has no damn clue on how to tell a story![]()

Murfy isn't that bad hereThe Jonster wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:57 pm I remember when I first played the game and continously redid stages in the latter half of the game, I would freak out when Murfy showed up with the "This Place is Dangerous!" screen. This actually reminds me of a meme I have saved on my phone where the Murfy screen is edited to say "EYIKES! THIS PLACE IS TOO SIGMA RIZZ! WE SHOULD LEAVE!" or something along those lines

Re: Rayman Origins
I think it would have made more sense if he had said “easy” or “easier.”
I prefer to take things at a slower pace. So naturally I struggled with some of the treasure chase and Moskito levels (mainly the later ones) at first!

Does anyone else get severe anxiety whenever the Tricky Treasure theme or "The Abyss" songs play? Or is it just me
I have literally never felt so bad after hearing a song in my life, but here we are
