Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
While Greengoop has already answered the regular question, I can go for the bonus question: the Rayman Origins manual, which claims that the Red Wizards say that Globox turned blue thanks to venemous bubeastietubbis, while the Teensies claim that it involved Globox’s love of plum juice; the mosaic in the PlayStation Vita version of Rayman Origins, which shows the story of how Globox became blue (which was also in the Art of Rayman Origins); and Red Globox’s description in Rayman Mini, which says that he turned blue due to an incident involving a mosquito’s eye and its similarity to a berry.
Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
You are both correct!
Additional playable characters in the RL Demo include Sir Rayelot and Grand Minimus.
Additional references to Globox's blue color can be found in the Origins Artbook (with artwork similar to what you see in the PSVita cutscene), and Red Globox's description in Legends/Adventures, which is a bit from the one in Mini, but carries the same idea.

The Jonster - 7 points + Bonus
RayGamer99 - 5 points + Bonus
PluMGMK - 4 points

Question 26: The French Rayman Collector bundle for the PC included Rayman 1 and all three of its original expansions (Designer, etc).
What is the total number of levels between the three expansions? (not counting the base game)

Wasn’t there also 3 minigames in Rayman Collector? For the main expansions, I’d say 108, if were just talking about those

124?
The only expansions I can think of are Rayman Designer, Rayman By His Fans, and Raymna 60 Levels.

Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
Yes, you are correct! Note how I had to avoid stating the names of the expansions, since that would give away part of the answer. The Jonster wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:15 pm 124?

By His Fans and 60 Levels were actually merged into a separate release at one point, known as "100 Levels". And Designer has 24 (4 for each world), so that brings us to the total you mentioned.

The next question is a bit long, pay attention.
Question 27: I've played Mr. Dark's Dare in the PSX, PC, and GBA versions of Rayman 1 (a.k.a. Rayman Advance), and noticed some similarities and differences.
For each of the aspects below - there are EITHER two versions which are the same, and one that is different, OR all 3 are the same, OR all 3 are different. Please mention which statement applies to which aspect, explaining as needed.
- The color of the punch at the end of level 1 (the slide)
- Hints about Mr Dark's spells at the start of levels
- Foreground scenery elements in level 3 (with the clowns)
- The visual appearance of the boss health bar during the fight
- The number of boss hitpoints during the fight
- Rayman's victory sound after the boss fight

Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
I assume the number of hit points is the same on all 3 versions, while the victory sound after the boss fights are all different on each one. That’s all I know (not even sure if I’m right for either of these) unfortunately.
Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
Well, I must say that from all the answers so far yours is the best! The Jonster wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:21 am I assume the number of hit points is the same on all 3 versions, while the victory sound after the boss fights are all different on each one. Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
Alright then, let’s see here… I believe the number of hitpoints and the boss health bar are the same across all three versions, but I want to say the foreground scenery in level 3 and the color of the punch at the end of level 1 are the same in two versions but different in one (not sure which one, though). Finally, I’m gonna guess the hints about Mr Dark’s spells and Rayman’s sound after winning is different in all versions.
Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
OK, so this is what I can say so far:RayGamer99 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 1:38 pm Alright then, let’s see here… I believe the number of hitpoints and the boss health bar are the same across all three versions, but I want to say the foreground scenery in level 3 and the color of the punch at the end of level 1 are the same in two versions but different in one (not sure which one, though). Both of you got 2 out of 6 correct - those that are the easiest.
For the other 4 bullets, you got a couple of right but incomplete, but a couple wrong, so it is not really closer.
The question may be a little intimidating so I will take out the parts that were already answered and simplify it:
Question 27a: When comparing Mr. Dark's Dare in the PSX, PC, and GBA versions of Rayman 1 - in each of the following points there is one version that differs from the other two, but it's not always the same version that is different:
- The color of the punch at the end of level 1 (the slide)
- Hints about Mr Dark's spells at the start of levels 2 and 3
- Foreground scenery elements in level 3 (with the clowns)
- The visual appearance of the boss health bar during the fight
Question is still open to all!

Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
Colour of the punch = PSX (it's orange instead of blue)
Boss bar appearance = PSX (icon flipped)
Foreground elements = PSX (only version to have them)
Hints = GBA (only version to have them)

OK, again no 100% exact answers, but it's been long enough, so I think this point goes to Plum!
Plum is correct on 3 of 4 counts, including one that I myself had missed. Indeed the icon in the boss battle with Mr Dark is flipped on the PSX.
I was referring to a different thing - see how the remaining hitpoints in the GBA version kind of blend together, like in this image?
So technically my question was wrong, because all three versions are slightly different in this aspect.
For the punch color - GBA version actually takes after the PSX version, so the PC is the exception here.
Unless there are multiple flavors (mmm... flavors...) of Rayman Advance?

It's time for an easy one I think...
Question 28: In Rayman 2, where is the first SYL you can obtain located?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that!dr_st wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:08 am I was referring to a different thing - see how the remaining hitpoints in the GBA version kind of blend together, like in this image?
Now that's a surprise, I would have assumed it'd take after the PC version in that respect, just like with the Moskito colours!dr_st wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:08 am For the punch color - GBA version actually takes after the PSX version, so the PC is the exception here.
In a cage in the underwater cavern to the right of the entrance to the Fairy Glade. I remember seeing it and finding its face quite scary, then running out of oxygen!dr_st wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:08 am It's time for an easy one I think...

Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
That's gotta be the only explanation, because I can't imagine someone actually writing different logic to achieve this.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:40 pm Oh yeah, I forgot about that!Obviously they messed up the rendering order ("DisplayPriority") of the life bar sprites

Question 29: Describe two boss encounters from two different 3D Rayman games recreated in two different handheld Rayman games.
(Clarification: by 'recreated' I mean that it's not enough to have the same boss enemy - the battle itself must be similar in some sense)
PluMGMK got two points in a row and should skip this question.

There’s Jano, from Rayman 2, who was recreated in the GBA version of Rayman 3; and there’s also Begoniax, from Rayman 3, whose battle was recreated in Rayman: Hoodlums’ Revenge.

Re: TTQ - Season 142 - dr_st
That's what I was looking for! Another possible answer for R3GBA is "Garish Gears' which recreates the machine keeping Ly captive in the Fairy Glade rather faithfully.RayGamer99 wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 3:48 pm There’s Jano, from Rayman 2, who was recreated in the GBA version of Rayman 3; and there’s also Begoniax, from Rayman 3, whose battle was recreated in Rayman: Hoodlums’ Revenge.
