It's a lot of trial and error, and it evolves as new strategies are discovered, but in the case of Rayman 1 I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed in many years, making it just a matter of execution.

I’m pretty sure a game-breaking speedrun glitch was found recently, kinda the barrier skip of rayman speed runs

Such an up and down run. First time ever trying allegro clip in a run and i got it, also got the stormer skip skip. Had a few silly deaths including a pretty bad eraser plains which lost a lot of time. Ended up pb'ing by almost a minute. Very surprised considering i can still save so much time, loving the progress
