Re: Rayman Legends
Oh, another ~496 MB update already, which is clearly to release the long-awaited achievements and Rayman Myths expansion DLC-...

Re: Rayman Legends
You say this jokingly, but weirdly enough the Steam RL page shows that there is a DLC... though said DLC is actually the game key, it boggled my mind the first time I saw it

I think that they’re edging us with a DLC. Though that could just be wishful thinking

Re: Rayman Legends
Definitely wishful thinking… I don't think they would do anything with any Ubiart games/make another one because I think we're all tired of that by now
But, as a Rayman fan, I think we'll just take whatever we get, Ubiart or not

Re: Rayman Legends
As they do these updates for multiple Uplay games simultaneously like UNO or Prince of Persia the Forgotten Sands and have been doing so for years, it's clear there's no teasing going here.
Not to mention a DLC on a 12-year old product would be suicidal from a marketing point of view, unless that DLC/expansion would come with a new release of said game (like Age of Empires/Mythology's many remasters), and we all know about Ubisoft's absurd expectations in terms of sale numbers... and I think we can all agree that there are enough Rayman Legends ports running in the wild as it is.
Considering how any new post-2011 Rayman game already feels like a glorified standalone DLC for Origins (especially on mobile), they would just the take the good ol' route of making yet another recycled mobile game... or for whatever new subscription service that may catch Ubi's money-hungry eyes
(We're never getting Rayman Mini out of Apple Arcade, do we?
)
But in all seriousness, "new" features could come pretty soon for Legends if we're "lucky", as I've heard some old Ubisoft Connect games on Steam only got their achievement system very recently, such as Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry, and some more are confirmed to come within the next weeks...
Would have only taken like 12 years after the consoles for something so small, but hey, would be better than nothing.

Yeah, the "DLC" of the Product Key has been there from day one, I remember needing it when I got the game eleven years ago – nothin' to see here lads…

Nope. Many more people would buy them other than a salty 20-so people on a website. More people clearly love these games than they hate themWPTheModder wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 8:12 pm Definitely wishful thinking… I don't think they would do anything with any Ubiart games/make another one because I think we're all tired of that by now![]()

Actually, true. I'm just honestly out of it because of the mobile games and how much Ubisoft thinks Legends is the definitive (pun unintended) Rayman game

I think I'd "love it" if it was on par/better than Origins.
And also if it wasn't milked like hell

Re: Rayman Legends
While I'm not going to disagree that some of the discourse against Legends is unnecessarily dogmatic, I'm inclined to wonder if there's also a reactive component that's becoming just as dogmatic in approach.
At any rate, while I'd like a change of scenery and something new, I still would get a sequel to Legends if there was one, the game itself is still pretty solid.

Re: Rayman Legends
I see where you're coming from. I think I do need to loosen up a little on my dislike for Legends, but I honestly can't really help it. Legends feels like an empty shell compared to Origins.
Again, I wouldn't care what the game was as long as we get something new, but I'd still prefer a 3D game. Ubisoft employees are exceptionally creative, so I believe it would be AMAZING, but... again... I'm so tired of Ubiart games, it's not even funny at this point, and also I think they've kinda used up all of their ideas - especially on Legends.
I have a lot of opinions and statements that I COULD say, but I don't want this to be an essay

Re: Rayman Legends
I have got no idea how to start this, so first off is the art aspect: Legends has nice art; do not get me wrong here, but it feels like it does not take it to its full potential. I think Origins had a delightful contrast with the simply drawn characters over a beautiful, hand painted world that feels magical, whilst Legends has the same vibe; the characters and enemies just kind of blend in and do not stand out as much.
Not only that, but I think Toad Story and 20k Lums Under the Sea did a good job at changing it up a lot, but I think if Rayman went on a new adventure it would have been more fun! Also, yknow, I like stories! I will not get too much into this, but I feel like it would have benefitted a bit more if it had a tinch of story at most.
The gameplay I don't exactly like, but I can see why others like it. It's satisfying to do combos and tricks whilst running and jumping, but I think Origins having more of a "struggle" felt better. You could still do sick tricks and combos and such, but you had to kinda work around the momentum-less air-kick and the terrible windup for punches. For some reason, it feels just good. I like things I can get "stuck" on, even if it's frustrating or makes me rage-quit, I like it. I wish they incorporated more stuff like that in the game, like harder obstacles and more variety in enemies.
I REALLY like a lot about Legends, but there's more I dislike than really like.

Re: Rayman Legends
Alright. I can completely respect that now, but I’d like to reply to everything you said
1. I like the cel-shading of origins, don’t get me wrong. But legends just looks so lush and vibrant, especially in Teensies in Trouble and Olympus Maximus. When I think of art and Rayman, this is what I think, and Rayman Legends is the pinnacle of Human art, up there with DeathSpank.
2. What the fuck? I despise the linear-ness of Rayman Origins. It’s such a nice breather whenever I get an open field to run through, and even then I feel forced to the ground by gravity
And I’ll add one thing. The flipping lums! In Origins, you have to collect nearly every lum in the level, usually in the thin time a red lum gives you. In Rayman Legends, lums are out in the open, meaning they’re quite hard to miss. And even then, levels are SO MUCH funner to replay here. Like it or hate it, Rayman Legends is physically a better game

Re: Rayman Legends
You are right regarding the “lush and vibrant” stuff, but there was a nice hard contrast that separated characters from the background, which added to the feel of Origins. Those 2 worlds definitely got the best backgrounds, though!Greengoop wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 7:37 am 1. I like the cel-shading of origins, don’t get me wrong. My personal opinion when I think about the art of Rayman is… yeah, Origins
So, about this; It's a side scroller game. Most levels are going to be linear. Not to say that you aren't wrong, but I think that… well, of course there will be that feeling of running and jumping in a straight line. I think some levels in Moody Clouds and Mystical Pique do combat this and have pleasant ways to twist and turn you around throughout levels via wall-running. There's also Sea of Serendipity (and it's sub-world) that also has this type of mechanic of moving and “twirling” around throughout the waters.Greengoop wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 7:37 am 2. You don't HAVE to do it, unless you like actually collecting. This is admittedly kind of an annoyance and a lame, slow process, but most of the time you're okay if you collect 300 lums. Some levels are (or feel, I guess) almost impossible to get the electoon badge for (specifically the king mockingbird one), but again, if you're hellbent on collecting everything, it's not a problem.Greengoop wrote: Fri Mar 14, 2025 7:37 am And I’ll add one thing. I think I've said this a lot, but I don't care for collecting. Maybe that's why I don't have a problem with it

Fair enough, also, what does being a Nintendo fan have to do with anything?
I'm not exactly knowledgeable about gaming, so this quite confuses me

Nintendo doesn’t have trophies because “it takes away from the gameplay”, so there’s no point at 100% completing anything there

It's not worth fully completing Rayman Legends in general tbh. Unless you're like Greengooop, the Rayman Legends stan.
