(Figured I’d create a thread for this little theory I’ve made)
I have a theory about the languages spoken throughout the rayman universe. Of course this is all based off of the English dubs
• Rayman 2 is an island near the Rayman 1 world, that speaks its own language called raymanian
• Considering the similarities between Rayman 1 and Rayman Origins, it’s safe to assume they are the same world. Since rayman 1 comes first in the rayman timeline, and is set in the same universe as “French with rayman” we can assume that English used to be the World’s main language before it gradually evolved into pig Latin
• There also is an island in the glade that speaks French, since that’s where rayman(?)’s cousin resides in French with rayman
• Rayman 3 is likely set on another island OR another area on the R1 island, and they speak English there, so maybe that was a region that never was effected by the pig Latin reforms
• Rayman Legends, Jungle Run, Fiesta run, Adventures and Mini are most likely set in an illiterate religion on the R1 island
• Ubbi Dubbi is likely an upper-class language based on raymanian English that polokus and his followers speak
Hope you liked my mini theory

Re: Languages of the rayman universe
Pretty interesting I think your right, there are a lot of languages throughout the islands but I'm pretty sure most of them talk raymanian

Re: Languages of the rayman universe
The language should have always been Raymanian! I truly believe there's a huge potential there, and even more since Tunic blew my mind. If an indie game is able to do that (with all the respect, of course), Ubisoft should definitely be able to do something similar (at least) with its resources.

100%, I thought the “Trunic” alphabet was really innovated when I played Tunic. There’s a couple of Raymanian Hieroglyphs in Mr Dark’s Dare and the Desert Of The Knaaren, so there definitely is a writing system used in his world.

Understandably, they weren't really thinking about a real alphabet for Raymanian +20 years ago. If there's really a new Rayman project in mind, I think it's a great opportunity to be innovative and to do something different to what they were doing for 15 years.

Uh I don't think the PS1 version of Rayman 2 has Raymanian where would you put this island.

Can we really count ports and stuff? In that case Rayman went for a rematch against Razorbeard and others many, many times. The Jonster wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 10:04 pm Uh I don't think the PS1 version of Rayman 2 has Raymanian where would you put this island.

Re: Languages of the rayman universe
That's an interesting theory, though the idea of an entire region replacing a real language with an annoying playground game that even ten-year-olds get bored of after a couple of days sounds rather scary.
However, English is only one of the many languages the games are available in. Since people also play in French, Polish, or Chinese, I find it hard to consider Glade characters speaking real-world languages as anything other than a dub for the player's benefit, rather than a language that actually exists in Rayman's world.
