Update!

My MacBook has a 3024x1964 screen. I usually have it hooked up to a 3440x1440 Dell P3421W monitor, though.

I also have a 1280x1024 LG L1718S TFT hooked up to my old Windows 98 machine

I always found it interesting that Apple tend to use strange resolutions. It seems they do that on a lot of devices actually. I understand it with phones since they try to use up the extra space for the home bar etc. I wonder why they also do it with Macs.

At the moment, I have a 2560x1440 240Hz monitor, and also a second 1920x1080 144Hz one. The latter is kind of on its way out but it still works if it "warms up" per say, and it's only my second monitor so I don't really care too much for now. I did have another 2560x1440 165Hz one but it takes up too much room with the limited space I have. I have a 27 and 24 inch, the 1080p one is the smaller one. Despite not sounding like a lot, it makes a massive difference to space.

the weird aspect ratio is because of the notch, at least on MacBooks. macOS basically integrates the menu bar into it.

It can be set to a regular 16:10 resolution, though, effectively masking the notch out with a black bar.

Ah so the MacBook also has this. That makes sense then. I understood phones doing it as mentioned because those have weird notches or menu bars to deal with, but if the Mac also now has this, it explains it. I'll admit I don't have much experience with them as I haven't owned one. I wouldn't mind having one but they're expensive and I already have a PC and laptop that are both capable of gaming, the latter is even barely used because I have the PC. Ironically I don't even play games often on it anyway, I'm more into older games or coding etc.

Anyway, I do actually want to get an iPad at some point speaking of Apple products. I'd like an iPad Pro 3rd gen with an M1. It's a few years old now but it's still extremely powerful for what it is.
