RPC Rank Rework

The idea of having one’s profile picture change depending on how many Tings they have is a good one; however, I’ve begun to notice one issue with this system: changing your profile picture.

Take me, for example. I’m currently a Hoodmonger/Hoodblaster, but if I wanted to be, say, an Explorer Lividstone, I would have to somehow decrease my Ting amount to do that. The only way I can think of to accomplish that without flat out discarding my hard-earned currency is to set up a separate account, then donate (deposit?) some Tings into that so that I go back to that rank. That is so much more complicated than it needs to be!

Surely there must be some way to add a feature here that allows you to just look at all of the profile pics you’ve unlocked so far and choose one. I know it’s probably a lot tougher than it sounds, but I think it’d be a useful quality-of-life feature that would remove a lot of the hassle and eliminate the need for all of those lousy Ting accounts.

There could still be a way to show off your rank too; we could come up with rank titles that function the same as the profile pics do now, changing based on how many Tings you have. We could have titles like IlLUMinator, Electoon Savior, or Rabbid Bopper, to name a few, that would still give each user something to brag about while giving them more flexibility with their profile pics. And hey, maybe you could choose your rank name from the various ones you’d have, too.

And if we were to do this, maybe we could even add some new images while we’re at it! Maybe a few more heroes/enemies from Legends and Adventures, a couple more Hoodlums, maybe even a few of the Rabbid heroes from Sparks of Hope? I’m just saying, the benefit that this “rework” of the ranks and profile picture system would, in my opinion, probably be worth the time that it would take to implement it. But maybe I’m just overthinking it? What are you guys’ input on this? Personally I think these would be very worthwhile features that would add new cosmetic personality to each Pirate-Community member.

Tbh I don’t think this is possible under the current system that this place runs on… or something like that?

Well, having the ability to choose between the ranks you have unlocked, would remove the need of creating Ting accounts or having to constantly donate Tings to avoid losing a certain rank.

I've seen the "title" system in other forums, there is a number of images the users can pick as avatar, and the actual rank is displayed below the username as a text (along with a colored bar with a pattern or small graphic in it). That could be an option too, however I guess one of the reasons things are the way they are, is to preserve the legacy of the RaymanZone forums that used this system.

However, even if everyone agreed on either of these changes, I have no idea of how difficult it would be to implement them. Also, I still have the hope of getting HQ ranks some day.

I quite like this idea, but I feel like it’d be pretty hard to set up. I know PhpBB used to give out little titles based on your number of posts back in the day so this seems quite similar.

I thought the point of this system was that it teaches you to not hold onto worldly attachments. Like, you'd reach a high rank, gift them and start over. I guess in practise people don't really do that (except the Jonster)

Regardless, if the picture is no longer bound to the amount of tings collected, it won't carry the same meaning I feel. To be clear, I'm not against the idea. I just like the fact that this site is one of the few places where everything isn't convenient and easy, therefore feeling like an accomplishment.

As far as I remember, I raised the issue once and was told that that's how it went around here and that no change were in sight.

TBH i think Plum should have a custome rank since hes the other admid.. plus theres like 3 people with a Holly rank and it can get really confusing. But thats the only Rank Re-work i think should be redone.

If we go with this logic then we should give Steo the custom green Globox origins avatar look, me Reindeer Yoshi, and uhhh…Plum gets a…well, Plum! And everybody else on the team can choose their own ranks! But ofc that’s up to everybody else, and more importantly Hunch himself!

Yeah... it just makes sense that the mods should have their own ranks tbh. Never knew why only Hunch had a costome rank.
