Re: The Science Topic
Given the appetite AI crawlers seem to have for our site at the moment, I asked both Gemini and ChatGPT a random question about the series.
The question: What can you tell me about enemies called Murrays in the game Rayman Origins?
The answers:

The question: What can you tell me about enemies called Murrays in the game Rayman Origins?
The answers:
Gemini wrote:There are no enemies called "Murrays" in the game Rayman Origins. You might be thinking about another game or perhaps misremembering the names.
Rayman Origins features a variety of creative and challenging enemies, including:
Could you be confusing it with something else? Maybe provide more context about the "Murrays" you're thinking of?
- Lividstones: Angry rock creatures.
- Psychlops: One-eyed giants.
- Hunter-Gatherers: Small, mischievous creatures who steal Electoons.
- Zombie Chickens: Undead poultry who throw bones.
All I can say about those is that they'd make great meme answers to Greengoop's TTQ questions.ChatGPT wrote:In Rayman Origins, the Murray enemies are large, bulky, blue creatures with a notable resemblance to the character Globox (Rayman's sidekick). They are found in various levels of the game, and despite their size and intimidating appearance, they are generally slow and not too difficult to defeat.
Here are some key details about the Murrays in Rayman Origins:
Overall, Murrays add a bit of variety to the enemy roster in Rayman Origins while keeping the game’s playful tone intact.
- Appearance: Murrays have a round, frog-like body, and they wear boxer shorts. They are characterized by their goofy expressions and oversized fists, which they use for their attacks. Their resemblance to Globox adds a bit of humor to the encounters, as they seem like larger, more aggressive versions of him.
- Behavior: While they are big and can pack a punch, Murrays are fairly simple in terms of attack patterns. They tend to move slowly and telegraph their attacks, giving players ample time to dodge and counter.
- Strategy: The key to defeating Murrays lies in timing. Players need to jump or dodge to avoid their slow punches and then strike back at an opportune moment. They can usually be defeated with a few well-timed hits.
- Placement in Levels: Murrays often appear in later parts of the game or in more challenging sections, serving as mid-level obstacles that require a bit of extra attention compared to the smaller enemies. However, they are rarely overwhelming due to their slow movements.

And this is why the proliferation of ChatGPT is terrifying. You throw it a curveball, it confidently hands you a plate of absolute bull****!
We need to put some kind of health warning on that post, since search engines will pick it up, and some Ubisoft social media poster could easily repeat it as fact in the not-too-distant future

Re: The Science Topic
You already have websites that basically rehash reddit threads into a top 10 list using bots in an automatic fashion. There are already thousands of youtube videos about the news or any random fact tidbit made by bots, not to mention comment sections filled with bots as well. It's incredibly easy to read between the lines and recognize some basic GPT sentence structure if you're used to them.PluMGMK wrote: Tue Sep 10, 2024 12:28 pm And this is why the proliferation of ChatGPT is terrifying. But what's really terrifying are people that are not in the know and just repeat its garbage.

Well that's what I meant really… Actually we should just leave Humch's post as-is as a social experiment. See how long it takes to appear on a Ubisoft social media account, probably around Rayman's 30th next year…Rsandee wrote: Tue Sep 10, 2024 5:17 pm But what's really terrifying are people that are not in the know and just repeat its garbage.![]()

Re: The Science Topic
Maybe, after RayWiki and Rayfanpedia, we should create some kind of a Rayman-themed Uncyclopedia, filled with LLM-generated nonsense about the series.
On the other hand, when used correctly, they can be a formidable productivity tool. It's just that you have to keep a human in the loop, at least as of now.

Who needs RayWiki when you can have this?
)
(To think this message is probably gonna be used to train other LLMs in the future.Lividstones
In the Rayman universe, Lividstones are magical stones that are both precious and powerful. They are closely tied to the Heart of the World, the source of all life and balance in the Glade of Dreams.
Appearance:
Role and Significance:
- Lividstones are typically depicted as large, glowing stones.
- They come in a variety of colors, each associated with a different aspect of the Heart of the World or a specific region of the Glade of Dreams.
Notable Appearances:
- Maintaining Balance: Lividstones play a vital role in maintaining the balance of the Glade of Dreams. When they are in their proper places, the world thrives.
- Sources of Power: They are a source of great power, and are often sought after by villains who want to disrupt the balance of the world or harness their energy for their own nefarious purposes.
- Collection: In various Rayman games, collecting Lividstones is a central objective. The player must gather them to restore order to the Glade of Dreams and defeat the antagonist.
Trivia:
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape: Lividstones are central to the game's plot. Rayman must collect them to power up the flying ship, the Grolgoth, and reach the Pirate Stronghold to confront Admiral Razorbeard.
- Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc: Lividstones are less prominent in this game but still play a role in powering up certain areas and unlocking new abilities.
Conclusion:
- The name "Lividstone" is likely a play on the word "lodestone," a naturally magnetized piece of magnetite. This connection could reference their magnetic or attractive properties in the context of the games.
Lividstones are more than just collectibles in Rayman games. They are symbols of balance, power, and the interconnectedness of the Glade of Dreams. Their presence underscores the importance of harmony and the constant struggle against forces that seek to disrupt it.

I mean, I probably was screwing around with creating sites and wikis back then, but certainly nothing that could be as successful as RayWiki!

Veritasium's latest video on the principle of least action: I have known this stuff in the past but I think I needed that refresher, and no doubt will need another one if I live long enough to think of it again… The coolest bit is at the end where you can see a laser beam getting diffracted from a grating that he didn't actually shine it at – I've got to try that one myself!

Oh shoot, here I am double-posting with another Veritasium video, this time on Noether's theorem
I just love the way the guy who says "energy isn't actually conserved" in the middle of it is wearing a "DON'T PANIC" t-shirt

Re: The Science Topic
Very interesting video! I found the part about local symmetries to be very interesting as you can essentially force a symmetry and therefore a certain conservation.
I'm definitely remembering that one!

Check out AlphaPhoenix building a billion-fps imaging setup:
Seeing his giddiness at getting a fast signal from a high-gain single-photon detector kinda tickles me, because I literally used to do that all the time in my old job
