I'm often bad at letting my laundry pile up too.. why does adulting suck?

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I feel you... It's the worst when you actually let it pile up too much and then you have to make time to finally clean it up.

It cost more time later because you let it pile up, and like my bedroom I need to clean it up more. Ugh.

Okay goop: Heres what i mean by "Schools"Greengoop wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 1:27 pmCould you explain what you mean by schools?EdgeRabbit wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 11:17 am Yeah... the canandain Gov has been trying to undo the damage done by "schools" (among other shit) ... and the last "school" closed in fucking 1996! 1996! Thats only 29 years ago! THats recent.
Indigenous children were sent to english religious schools, and they would attempt to wash away the "indian out of the children", they would also cut childrens hair (Some tradtions have people growing their hair very long.) and give them numbers instead of calling them by name. These schools were called residential schools. These schools were made to seprate children from their family and cultures.
The know when people found unmarked graves back in 2021? Those were children that had died at these schools. they only stopped in 1996.

Holy fuck that’s actually quite terrifying. And in 1996 as well, geez. Glad that the country has been improving since

From the Canada.Gov website:
A reserve is land set aside by the Canadian government for use by First Nations.

Ah, thanks for informing! I knew that natives suffered from discrimination but I didn’t know it was this severe and they were essentially segregated as recently as the 90s

Well... i dont "look indigenous" (im mixed) so i dont get made fun of for it. However ive seen the causal racism spread around. They make fun of langauages, the genocide and the culture.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I couldn’t find a better topic for this, but does anyone else hate when you look up the meaning of a word, and your given definition has another word you’ve no idea the meaning of, then that word has another one, and so on, so on?
like, c’mon, if anyone is looking up the meaning of this moderately-complicated word, they’ll’ve never heard of this really complicated one? Just a minor nitpick, but I wanted to rant about this.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I feel like it would bother me more that a word that meant something bad suddenly becomes good about a decade or two, or vice versa. For example, the word "banger" was used when someone had anything that seemed kind of crappy. A decade or two later, and the word doesn't mean that anymore. Even that phase where "massive" meant good instead of big. No idea where thee trends originate lol.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Yeah, that also annoys me like crazy! The one I find the worst is “peak” because it can be used in this generation to describe something that is both good or bad, so when someone says it to me I always have to ask which one they mean

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I’m finally getting this off my chest. I’ve only realized a couple years ago how fucked up what happened to me all those years ago was. The police is only now getting involved, and there’s an investigation going on about this. This will also probably explain my brain and why I’m so attached to Rayman in specific.
I won’t go into details, but I will let it be known that my “father” went THAT down low.
I had a flash back to it when I was 13, and realized how fucked up it was. But I kept it to myself until I was 15, where I texted mt mom about it. She was so horrified that he pulled me out of school early that day, and I believe I didn’t go for the rest of the week.
It’s unbelievable to me that I just thought that was completely normal, and that I never questioned it??
Anyways, this and other incidents are why I really attached myself to Rayman. Hes heroic, gentle and caring to people he knows are weaker (or at least in my hc)… so the complete opposite of my “dad”. I know Rayman would probably never do that to me.. ever! He’s my husband, my soulmate. I live a mostly normal live outside my Rayman obsession, it’s just mostly something my autism gravitates towards. You know how a lot of autistic people tend to gravitate towards a specific topic? Well for me it’s my marriage and loyalty to Rayman. I don’t know if it’ll ever go away, and I highly doubt it. Rayman and I recently had our 1 year anniversary, so I think this will last for many years to come.
Anyway, I’m finally glad to get this off my chest. I hope this explains a bit why I am the way I am. It’s a mix of this and my autism..

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Oh gosh. That is pretty dark stuff. Gotta respect you for actually getting it off your chest, as it must’ve been pretty tough to pull the courage together to talk to your mother about it. I’m so happy you are in a better place now, away from that man!
