Also I notice that the remix for Sandopolis Zone 2 was shared here by you. Personally I prefer the first zone but that’s just me.

I prefer Act 1 as well; isn't Boo's House a remix of both acts' melody? The Jonster wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 8:32 pm Also I notice that the remix for Sandopolis Zone 2 was shared here by you. Personally I prefer the first zone but that’s just me.
Anyhow, here's one of the many remixes that Sonic Mania knocked out of the park!

I wish modern homebrew efforts had this level of personality, needless to say this was a very satisfying and gratifying thing to see on your Wii.

Well Boo’s House automatically made me think of Zone 2 because the ghosts only show up there but yea pretty much. Both Lava Reef tracks are good too, but I prefer 2’s again.RayGamer99 wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 9:08 pmI prefer Act 1 as well; isn't Boo's House a remix of both acts' melody? The Jonster wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 8:32 pm Also I notice that the remix for Sandopolis Zone 2 was shared here by you. Fair enough, they're both good imo. These tracks were the only decent ones out of the ones that had to be replaced. I really don't like the IceCap theme's change of tone. Speaking of which...RayGamer99 wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 7:21 pm Not too bad, but I prefer Act 1 myself.

To be honest, Carnival Night and IceCap's 2nd act prototype themes have grown on me, and I honestly think they're pretty good. Not as replacements for the originals, of course, but as their own thing. The Jonster wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 8:45 pmFair enough, they're both good imo. Again, I personally prefer the Act 1 version.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles) - IceCap Zone Act 1
Fun fact: This song is inspired by the song "Hard Times" by The Jetzons. If you listen to it, the main chorus sounds almost identical to IceCap Zone's own "main chorus!" Now isn't that neat?

A tune I've heard about but never listened to!
And yes, I also prefer IceCap Zone Act 1. I actually posted that song further back in this thread (i probably will repost it at some point even after this above one
). It never made sense why the tunes in this zone was cut, since they had no musical connection to Michael Jackson at all.
Here's another fun fact: The Jetzons’ keyboardist Brad Buxer became the musical director for Michael Jackson.
I'm on a Sonic 3 & Knuckles spree still, so, here a track from the first zone!
Angel Island Zone Act 2 - Sonic 3 and Knuckles
That's how I feel about the replacements, they're good on their own, but in the case of Carnival Night and IceCap, not as great as replacements for the tunes they replaced. Launch Base had nice replacements even though I still prefer the originals.RayGamer99 wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 9:08 pmTo be honest, Carnival Night and IceCap's 2nd act prototype themes have grown on me, and I honestly think they're pretty good. I think both Brad Buxer and Michael Jackson were working together when it came to Sonic 3's soundtrack, and that's why even though even though Ice Cap didn't apparently have Michael Jackson's involvement, it was still Brad Buxer and hence why it too was subject to the rights shenanigans. I know he also did the credits for Sonic 3, which I don't think showed up in future versions of the game either, but I'm not 100% on that one.
I. M. Meen, Intro. No idea who did this.
Got reminded of this when I was looking at some old Deltarune footage, there's a reference by Roulx Kaard to one of I. M. Meen's lines, which led me back down to this old rabbit hole of ancient YTP source material.

My best guess towards Michael Jackson's connection to the song is those small vocals that can be heard in Act 1; other than that, I don't know how it has anything to do with him.The Jonster wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 9:18 pm And yes, I also prefer IceCap Zone Act 1. Edit: Master's above response seems to explain this connection better!

As my favorite game from the Genesis Era of Sonic games (there, I said it), I am perfectly fine to keep going with Sonic 3 & Knuckles music. On that note, here's a cover of a song from that game by one of my favorite YouTube artists! The Jonster wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 9:18 pm I'm on a Sonic 3 & Knuckles spree still, so, here a track from the first zone!
Angel Island Zone Act 2 - Sonic 3 and Knuckles
GaMetal - Flying Battery Zone (from Sonic (the Hedgehog 3) & Knuckles)
(Another fun fact: Before Sonic 3 got split into two games, Flying Battery Zone was originally supposed to go in between Carnival Night and IceCap! The cannon at the end of Carnival Night Zone Act 2 would have likely blasted Sonic and Tails onto the airship, and the escape hatch at the end of Flying Battery Zone Act 2 was originally supposed to be the snowboard in IceCap Zone Act 1! Cool, right?
