So your preferred version is the Jaguar version, is that right?Greengoop wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:38 amI don’t really remember how different the cage placements are, but I didn’t think the game felt satisfying to play compared to even the PlayStation version.PluMGMK wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 12:59 am I wouldn't say that… The cage placements feel a lot more satisfying in that version, though God knows why they made them so different…

No, I just didn’t have the time though. It got “nerfed to oblivion” though so it may be an easier ride. The Jonster wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 8:30 pm Well I guess my next question would be, have you finished this version of Rayman 1 then???

“Nerfed to oblivion”??? You thought the jaguar was the hardest version? Interesting take at the very least.

No, I mean it’s the easiest! Even though the Jag version was made a full year before the others. The Jonster wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 1:17 am “Nerfed to oblivion”??? You thought the jaguar was the hardest version? Interesting take at the very least.

Well it's unique compared to nearly all the others (I'm not going to think about the GBC version over there). Can I say it's the easiest? No, not yet, as I have not finished this version yet.

Re: Rayman 1
the iconic “Yeah!” from Rayman 1 was voiced by Douglas McCarthy, who sadly passed away
On June 11th, 2025, Douglas McCarthy, lead singer of the band Nitzer Ebb, sadly passed away.
What many fans don’t know is that his voice is actually featured in Rayman 1 (1995) —specifically, the iconic “YEAH!” sound Rayman makes when freeing a cage or winning something.
This sample wasn’t recorded for the game directly. It came from an old sample library called Zero-G Datafile Vol.3, which included many sounds taken (often without permission) from songs and audio recordings.
One of those was the “Yeah!” shout from Nitzer Ebb’s song “Getting Closer”, which features Douglas McCarthy’s unmistakable voice.
So while he was never officially involved in the game, his voice lives on in one of Rayman’s most memorable sound effects.
A little-known fact that hits different now.
Rest in peace, Douglas.

Oh wow, we were actually discussing this here pretty recently, about a month ago! So sad to hear about his recent passing. His iconic "YEAH" will always be a legend.

Funny, I don't remember Rayman doing that when he broke a cage... then again, I have only played the GBA version and Redemption, so I wouldn't know for sure anyway.
Rest in peace, Douglas McCarthy. Your "YEAH!" will forever live on in the hearts of us Rayman fans.

Re: Rayman 1
The "YEAH" is most likely heard for most people when he's either reached the exit sign or won something (which you don't hear in Advance actually), like Alex said.

We could start by replacing the image with the higher-resolution version Fifo apparently found!Greengoop wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:32 pm Thank you! Do you think it’d be appropriate to edit RayWiki in that case?

I see, then I should probably rename the file since the title is misleading.
