Re: Photographs!
Whoa, I don't know what it's meant to be but it's pretty cool. But I think your drawings are much more impressive.
Re: Photographs!
So do I. I do prefer making my work in two dimensions. u_u Or at least with clay. Not with chicken wire and cast. Ugh.
I want that hat. Especially since it's made out of an old cookie-box with cast on it and chicken-wire as the brim yay.
He's now exhibited in our school canteen. I hope people loose their appetite when they see him.

Re: Photographs!
Bumpity-bump!
Taken yesterday afternoon looking west from Annahala Bridge, showing the grasses and shrubs that have sprung up relatively recently on islets sticking up out of the Carrigadrohid reservoir. Historically the whole area was a deciduous rainforest but it was clear-felled in the mid-1950s in advance of the creation of said reservoir.
The presence of the swan on the left was probably what prompted me to actually take this photo

Re: Photographs!
Yeah, I figured we had to have a topic like this, so I searched the word "photographs". Didn't realize it would be this old though
And thanks, I'm quite happy with how it came out!

Re: Photographs!
If I send a photo of my great great grandfather during WW2, would you guys be willing to help me find where it was taken since we’re not sure? All we know it was during WW2, and somewhere in Europe.

I can give it a go, if you want! If there’s no structures I could probably tell you the region it’d be in.EdgeRabbit wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 11:38 am If I send a photo of my great great grandfather during WW2, would you guys be willing to help me find where it was taken since we’re not sure? Re: Photographs!
Due to the architecture and the high number of pigeons I’d assume it’s in Paris.

Re: Photographs!
Yeah… he was a cook during WW2. We don’t know much about his time in the war, but my mom does have a memory of him cooking and looking outside, telling her that he was watching out for German soldiers.
Is that also in France?

No, it’s in North Italy.

Re: Photographs!
Milan is in Italy, originally from the nazi band but then switched to the Allies band. I'd say that picture is taken in the near-end of WW2.

Re: Photographs!
I’m not sure. But the photo is one of only 2 photographs that I have of him. I would like to see more..
Possible! I’m also not sure when he was drafted, but we do know he migrated to the US to become part of the navy during the Great Depression.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 11:50 am Milan is in Italy, originally from the nazi band but then switched to the Allies band. Re: Photographs!
From what I see, it's the bank of a local river. That would eliminate Milan (isn't traversed by water) but I'm not good at GeoGuessr.
So while I do not recognize the city, If it's not Paris then I assume it's one of the cities traversed by the Seine, the biggest one being Rouen.

Fascinating! I'm not very well versed in geography, though, so i can't help much here.EdgeRabbit wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 11:41 am Alight, here’s the photo (censored his face for privacy reasons)
Anyways, this topic reminds me of one bizarre sight..
So, imagine you are me.
The year is 2022. You are just walking around your town, when you notice a... disturbing amount of fish, thrown out on the pavement. Weird, i know.
And then, you see this absolute work of art :
