Yeah, I 100% agree.

You will need to communicate with others if you want to try make friends.StanceDance wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 10:39 am Man I need some friends on this website (and my xbox 360 as well)
Being active alone isn't the key, it's communicating with others along with it. Anyone could just post excessively and be talking to themselves for example.
Basically.

Re: Off Topic
Yeah, just it certainly helps. Popping in every once a month to say “hi chat” is gonna get you way less friends than having daily conversations with other members.
Re: Off Topic
Fer sure! We don’t even know what’s your favorite Rayman game, since you talk so rarely
Re: Off Topic
I don't know, dude. Sometimes you just can't connect. Like, I know I have some extreme views and my humor that is an unhealthy mix of aloof, weird and caustic is off-putting to some, but I can't seem to relate or connect with any of you guys. In fact, whenever I'm genuine I get the systematic impression that Edge comes as quick as she can to change topics.
I'm not saying it's a you thing either : I know I have trouble engaging with the Rayman topics because... the games are so old and so many things have been said about them, I feel that I have nothing to add. I tried to a while ago but... Opinions are opinions and new facts are few and far between. Also I'm not saying it's a current thing. When I was there in 2017-2020 I felt the same about the active group of members who were more in my age range than the current active group of members.
The only person who actually seems to engage is Hunch, and we have diametral views on most things, which can be grating in its own regard. Other French guys too, but they're barely there anymore. Boombo every once in a while, and then we're talking at most five messages per month.

Re: Off Topic
I agree that Hunch is one of the most interesting people to talk to. He's insanely smart and respects others' views without conceding on his own, unless they change in the course of the discussion.
I'd say most of the active users are really smart people too. They tend to be young though and it isn't easy for me to get on that level where life is more "in the moment". The days and weeks bleed into each other at my age, and effective communication presupposes a similar level of experience.
However, what makes it really worth initiating topics, simply for the sake of engaging with people and nothing more, is the fact that people are so much more than our subjective impression of them. The more deeply you know a person, the more they will reveal the very opposite aspects to those blatant traits that more or less embody them in our minds. The person who strives for a connection for its own sake will be rewarded in this way.

Re: Off Topic
I feel like I'm in the same camp at this point. I'm usually on this forum at least once a day, but I feel like I have absolutely nothing to say anymore, which honestly really sucks. I love talking with everyone here, I just can't find anything to talk about, at least when it comes to most Rayman topics.Pirez wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:05 am I'm not saying it's a you thing either : I know I have trouble engaging with the Rayman topics because... the games are so old and so many things have been said about them, I feel that I have nothing to add.
Re: Off Topic
Whether we like it or not, Rayman is, at best, a very stagnant franchise. We're feeding ourselves with fan projects (of which there are very few), fan art, new discoveries by data miners and that one new game Ubisoft assures exists but has yet to reveal anything about. Therefore the only space of discussion is the Off-topic forum.
Same thing happened with Megaman. And thus my original community Megaman Planet died alongside the franchise, the forum being replaced by Discord. Some people became very close friends but our meeting ground was left behind.

Re: Off Topic
Are we here for Rayman or for the "franchise"? I'm not convinced that discussions need to be topical. But I see your point.
Personally I wish we could all get involved in a single, online Rayman fan project. We'd be immersed in magical worlds created by our imaginative members, it would be a cool place to hang out, maybe compete in Rayman M-style mini games. And if it was genuinely good, and Ubisoft made the smart decision to support us rather than strike us down, it could actually be a profitable venture (sort of similar to Gaia Online).

Re: Off Topic
You mean like a sort of collaborative game jam? That would be an interesting idea. I have ideas myself on how to take Rayman in a different direction gameplay wise.

Re: Off Topic
These are my thoughts exactly. I of course love Rayman, but it's harder for me to stay super-duper invested in one specific series when we almost never get any new content, and the remaining content has been talked and analysed to death.
And for some reason I don't really post on Off-topic, maybe it's because I don't really like talking about myself online, or I don't have anything to add, I'm not sure. It's absolutely not y'all of course, you guys are some of the coolest people I've ever met, online or not, and I'll of course pop in when I feel like I have something of "substance" to say.
That honestly sounds super neat, although there's not much I could do, I know next to nothing when it comes to game developmentHugo wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 10:11 am Are we here for Rayman or for the "franchise"? I'm not convinced that discussions need to be topical. But I see your point.

Re: Off Topic
I keep myself engaged with hcs and fanfiction. I still haven’t played every single Rayman game and I still have lots to research.
Also my marriage to Rayman but that puts people off unfortunately…

By the way, I keep hearing about this group chat, would it be ok if I joined?

I’d be completely for that, just we need Edge’s permission. Thanks, by the way!

Re: Off Topic
The nerves!
The hypocrisy!!
Coming from someone whose husbando turns 30 this year and is therefore a legal adult.
Such discrimation shouldn't be tolerated with the walls of this very respected community!!!
