Re: Rayman 2
I think he looks more like a Mike than a Matt, personally.
Re: Rayman 2
He is a playable character of Globox Disk.Greengoop wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 6:44 am Probably not, he literally just appears in the village I think. His file name is probably globox_kid_gold or something.
At first, I thought his name would be Yellox. It seems that's wrong.I have drawn "Mike" before.

Re: Rayman 2
What do you guys think about the pc version of this game?
Re: Rayman 2
TL;DR absolutely recommend, GOG version works but you might need an extra script (I have it) to make controller function properly.EdgeRabbit wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 10:50 am What do you guys think about the pc version of this game?
For me it practically ties with the DC version in top place.
The DC version has Globox Village, which is a nice bonus feature but I didn't find it as interesting as say, the PS version's playable prototype level of the 2D Rayman 2 that never was. Also, I prefer the Hall of Doors set in space to the island map the DC version has (this worked better in Crash Bandicoot in my opinion). But the DC version has luscious colours and 60FPS, making it an easy contender for top place.
What I love about the PC version is how crisp it looks, and this is just how PC games are. I have no idea why such a distinction exists. Sometimes the crispness has a negative effect on games. It can make objects look like they are made out of paper or cardboard. But with Rayman 2 I feel it complements the highly atmospheric surroundings, bringing them into focus. It's hard to explain.

Re: Rayman 2
Indeed, the name is never pronounced anywhere so there's no definite answer. If Jano is also a reference to the Roman god Janus, then it's not too surprising that the creators of the Russian article went for Яно and not Жано as the god is called Янус in Russian. That's also the original Latin pronunciation, which might explain why I remember hearing "Ya-noh" before in French and/or English. As for "Jah-noh" , it's the natural English pronunciation but I don't think there's any logic behind it.PluMGMK wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 1:07 amI reckon it's short for Michaël Janod's second name, in which case it would be /ʒaˈno/ (as in French) – but tbh in English I've always said /'d̠ʒaːno/ (cuz I'm IrishMagelin wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:26 am Is Jano pronounced like Ya-noh or Jah-noh?
Well, i was just browsing the Russian forums, and they write his name like this : "Яно", which is pronounced like the first pronunciation.
But i always thought it was pronounced like the latter one. Man, English pronunciations are stupidSo which one is it?
). So, as you say, like "Jah-noh". But I don't think there's any right answer, since his name is never said aloud in any game

Re: Rayman 2
I believe that it stands for Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman. A similar symbol appears on the R1 box art.
However I could be off on this, so take this with a grain of salt

Michel Ancel Seal of Approval
Re: Rayman 2
It stands for Michel + Alexandra (his wife). She also did a lot of the early art for the games!
