Happy twenty-second birthday, Pirate-Community!

Post by Hunchman801 »

Another year has sailed by, and today, our beloved Pirate-Community marks its 22nd birthday! It is with great pride that we celebrate so many years of shared passion and amazing work dedicated to our favourite limbless hero.

The past year has been particularly thrilling for Rayman fans, bringing a fresh wave of hope and excitement for the future of the series. The most significant news comes directly from Ubisoft, who confirmed they have initiated an "exploration phase on the Rayman brand": likely a new game in the works! This long-awaited development has rekindled the flame, igniting discussions and dreams of new adventures to come. With the hero's 30th anniversary on the horizon for next September, anticipation for what Ubisoft has in store is at an all-time high. Meanwhile, FLYOS successfully completed the development of Rayman: The Board Game following its fantastic Kickstarter campaign, and the game is now officially in production, promising tabletop fun for us all by the end of the year.

The excitement doesn't stop with official news. On the research front, our dedicated community has once again unearthed a treasure: a beta build of Rayman 2! This fascinating discovery offers a unique glimpse into the game's development, featuring several differences from the final version, such as the presence of the telescopic fist, an early interface and different controls.

While this year may have been quieter on the fanworks front, the creative flame is far from extinguished. The upcoming third edition of Rayman Alive, scheduled for September 1st, is set to showcase inspiring progress on a variety of ongoing projects. Meanwhile, Rayfanpedia, the go-to place to document them all, is seeing healthy growth.

This spirited activity is best reflected in our community's amazing numbers. Our forums saw an impressive 43,706 new messages posted this past year, bringing the grand total to 1,438,302. This figure is nearly double last year's growth and marks our most active year since 2018—a powerful testament to the community's vitality in an era where many forums are simply being shut down. Our lively discussions extend to our Discord server as well, which now boasts over 1,000 members. Meanwhile, RayWiki remains the ultimate treasure trove of Rayman lore, with 336 new articles created, bringing the total to an impressive 6,618 across 8 languages.

As we celebrate 22 years, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to every single member of Pirate-Community. Your passion and dedication are the lifeblood of this amazing place. Here's to another year of announcements, discoveries, discussions, and unwavering enthusiasm for the world of Rayman.

Long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!

I can’t believe Pirate-Community was born just a few years after my birth. I was just four years old when PC was founded!

Or, perhaps more accurately, anticipation for if Ubisoft has anything in store :P

WOW! Our most active year since 2018?! Is it possible this momentum could carry us to a new Record Day record?

I certainly hope so! It would be delusional to imagine we can beat the 32,000, but maybe we can beat last year? :bad:

Glad to see a classic forum still standing in 2025, and even happier to see the rising activity! For many more years together, and let's go beat the past Record Day :D

Also, quick question. I know Delphi Forums and many others are still around... But maybe we're getting closer to the top 1 oldest gaming forums? This site is even older than 4chan!

The oldest gaming forum predates us by 4 years, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that we’re in the top 100. :)

Especially since we probably haven’t even made that many posts in an entire year since 2018. I gotta get to the recruiting phase soon if we wanna go for 10k or something. :hap:

At my elderly age, an all nighter seems unlikely but there's always that motivation to be the best frenchie.

And indeed it was… “scheduled maintenance work” that no one at the data center thought it would make sense to communicate about in advance? :fou2:
