To be honest, having both a PS4 and PS3 at the time would’ve been ideal. Minecraft is infinitely better than Roblox on the other hand.

It's a little ironic though, since in reality the PS3 did have better games that were more fun than the PS4, though I'd argue the PS2 had even better games really. It's not all about power and graphics, older games have charm, and that's what makes them amazing. I never get the same feeling from any modern game that I get from any of the older gems. I even feel excited when I sit down to play an older game, especially on the real hardware.

I think the PS3 had the best games of any (Non-Nintendo) console to-date. I’ll need some recommendations if I ever get a PS2 as I’m not as familiar with games that I’d enjoy on that system.

The PS2 for me was definitely the best era for gaming. It didn't have the best graphics of course, but the games were just so good in those times, plus they looked far more than good enough. I still enjoyed the PS3 era, but for me, that era (PS2, Xbox, GameCube) was the peak of gaming in my opinion.

I didn't own a PS2 at the time but the PS2 gen was legendary, the PS2 was the undisputed king and it was widely available and affordable too!
No pesky scalpers like with modern consoles and a it had a huge library of games to choose from, only rivaled by the Wii which came a generation after it.
I'd say the success of the Switch trumps that of the Wii now, but the Wii was bigger at its time and the motion controls were absolutely revolutionary for its time.
The PS2 and Wii both also had prolonged durability and lifetime due to their generation effectively being extended due to the PS3's price increase (550 euros at release if I recall) and the Wii U just straight up sucking.

Everyone was playing GTA: San Andreas on the PS2 as a kid, meeting up with friends just to walk around doing random stuff in the game without playing missions.
Core childhood memory.

I agree and I was so jealous of people who owned one of those systems
Made it all the sweeter when the Wii released and I finally convinced my parents to buy my brother and me a Wii though.
