Finally saw Weird: The Al Yankovic Story! (Atleast I think that's the name? I'm just going off of memory here)

Such a fun little movie. Also on top of fun, it's fun...ny! Too bad Madonna called a hit on Al... R.I.P, you will be missed

I plan to (re)watch Bruce Almighty and Anchorman next. Just some extra fun movies to wash it all down with

I got half way through Bruce Almighty when I was watching it with my family, but I had to stop because my brother didn’t like it. Is it any good?

I've been watching some popular horror films lately, here are few I've seen:

Child's Play: To be honest this one was a lot better than I expected it to be. Chucky was great in this one, he is not overused in the film (as the characters don't know that the doll is alive), and the vocal delivery was fantastic. Overall it wasn't very scary, but there were some suspenseful moments. However toward the end when Chucky would just not die, it just pretty annoying :oops2: (7/10)

Child's Play 2: I don't have a lot to say on this one. Chucky is in the film way more, as there is no mystery that the doll is alive. The film sorta just meanders, and to be honest I was kinda bored for a lot of scenes. I guess the climax was pretty neat. (5/10)

Friday the 13th: To celebrate the day, I watched this one with a very old VCR hooked up to a CRT, and I was a bit dissapointed. There are some things to appreciate about it, it has a very interesting atmosphere, it's almost crude in a way (The crude special effects and low framerate slo-mo scenes definitely help )
There were also some genuinely suspenseful scenes, which are helped by the very dim lighting throughout most of the picture. However, the acting is lacking, some of the aforementioned effects do not hold up super well, the writing is weak, and the suspense grinds to a halt once the killer is revealed, even if the reveal is somewhat shocking. Also, the film is just kinda boring. (4/10)

I should probably quit rambling now :oops2:

Watched "The Mothman Prophecies" last night. I found it amusing that in the opening and closing titles they try to make out that it's based on true events (which it kinda-not-really is), but then the credits include the standard boilerplate about how any similarity to real people or events is "unintentional and purely coincidental" :mwahaha:

A few days ago I saw the live action movie of How to Train Your Dragon, and I should say that I enjoyed it! :D
Forget about the terrible Disney live action, with this film Dreamworks has shown that they know how to make live action adaptations :)

So, if you enjoyed the original movie you'll sure enjoy this new one as well

Watched Jaws a couple of days ago, I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it scary but it was exciting. :D

I watched that 2 years ago. It definitely disappointed me, and I didn’t show enough interest to watch the sequels.

Sinners: An very fun and interesting take of the vampire movie horror genre, though not scary at all. More like a bit off-putting or creepy at times. Definitely the best movie I watched this weekend, terrific acting and the time and setting is perfect. 4.5/5.

Until Dawn: I guess this movie is kinda nice but it could've been much more. I like some parts of the movie like: the witch, the tainted drinking water and the last day but I was also incredibly disappointed by other parts of the movie (the way they kill each other to skip to the next day and that we don't see the majority of their time in the loop). Not scary, nice visuals sometimes but it seems there is build-up to something that never gets delivered (the fog, the giant outside in the rain, the transformation into a wendigo). 3/5.

Bring her back: This movie really gets under your skin, it triggered me a lot concerning the foster mom. Very interesting movie but again it seems to build up to something that doesn't really get delivered. It's more of an emotional ride than a horror movie, also not that creepy but it can get kind of gory at times. 4/5, definitely worth it.

I went down a really weird rabbit hole after rewatching this Canadian movie called “La Guerre des Tuques”.

Now the first movie is called “The Dog who stopped the war” in English…the title spoils what happens in the movie. So I don’t get WHY they choose it.

THEN THERES THE 2015 REMAKE THAT CHANGES IT TO SNOW TIME WHILE THE FRENCH TITLE STAYS COMPLETELY THE SAME??

It’s bizarre to me how they didn’t simply just translate the French name. “The war of the hats” does incredibly hard.

I just finished watching “Dead To Rights”.

It should be the first movie that made me cry.

The Woman in Black: Very good atmospheric horror movie, it stars Daniel Radcliffe and for once he is acting pretty decently outside of the Harry Potter movies. I've only seen him in one or two other movies and he was by far the worst part of those movies so the fact that he doesn't feel out of place or influence the movie in any way is pretty impressive to me somehow. I liked the time and setting of the movie (1800s England). Usually this era is overly romanticized but in this specific movie we see a random English village instead of a Victorian English city. We see some sort of clash between the rich and the impoverished, especially in their way of thinking with regard to the supernatural. The horror aspect of the movie was perfect, the pacing was exactly what I was looking for. It was a nice, slow buildup with original, creative and non-over-the-top jump scares that actually felt like they belonged in the movie and weren't out of place. A horror movie that respects the viewer and their ability to pay attention without being saturated by distractions. 9/10. :D

The Night House: Another great atmospheric horror movie that functions in more or less the same manner as the last. It features a modern setting and some great analogies regarding marital issues and mental health. Without giving any spoilers, I will just say that this movie rarely employs exposition, but when it does it feels natural and deserved. There are some scenes that are shot in a hauntingly beautiful way, this movie plays with perception and camera angles and it likes to subvert your expectations a little bit. I am guessing the director took into account that horror movie watchers like to come up with tons of theories of what's going on throughout the story, I guess they found a way to subvert these expectations while still having these theory breadcrumbs make sense in the grand context. I will warn you though: it's a dark movie. Not in terms of lighting obviously, but in it's tone and outlook on life (or at least the main characters life). It's sad and bleak, and it rarely offers comfort. 8.5/10.

When Evil Lurks: This movie surprised me a lot! I am normally a fan of atmospheric horror movies that haunt the viewer, rather than violent horror movies that feature a less than spectral supernatural threat. I'll give away that this movie features demonic possession, but in a new and refreshing way that builds up over the course of the movie. This movie also respects the viewer, it doesn't give away its answers to your questions immediately, it makes you stop and look for yourself first what might be going on. It is rare that I find an action/horror movie that functions like this, as I'm quick to judge these movies as total slop. It's an Argentinian movie so the entire movie is shot in Spanish, I had trouble understanding the main characters at first but luckily the rest of the cast has a more relaxed and clear pronunciation in Spanish. It was refreshing, fun and incredibly entertaining. It was less scary to me, owing to its genre, but nevertheless very intriguing. This movie manages to be even more bleak and dark than the last though, don't look for a happy ending here. 9.5/10. :yeah:

Watched the new War of the Worlds adaptation a few days ago.

Truly an absolute masterpiece of filmmaking. (1.5/10)

I am into found footage genre for a while.

As Above, So Below - 4/5 The catacombs movie, and a more psychological kind of hell. The pacing drags a bit in the middle.

Host - 4.9/5 Amazing movie, short and clever moments to capture. It gets under your skin, and it delivers what is promised. Then, end of the movie.

Noroi - 4.6/5 Just a strange kind of story-telling about a strange story. I really like it.

Grave Encounters - 3.5/5 Watchable if you want some time killing moments but not that much recommended.

Noroi was such an amazing experience, as was Host. Grave Encounters was a fun movie but kind of a let down so I understand what you're going on about. As Above, So Below was a great movie, but I expected more. The ending was actually a happy ending for once, but it really lead me to believe the ending would be horrible. That was a nice surprise I guess.

Watched my first Roger Corman film a few days ago, The Terror.

It wasn't very good first impression, the story behind the film is wayyy more interesting than the film itself. (2/10)

The Mission was on TV earlier. I didn't watch it (because RD) but I heard it as my mother watched it. I actually watched it myself four years ago, it was fascinating and heartbreaking…

Watched the extended cut of The Outsiders, preferred it overall to the theatrical cut, however some of the music changes were pretty jarring in my opinion.
