Re: The reunion thread
Actually my C seemed to decide to stop working earlier on, but thankfully it didn't last more than a few seconds
Re: The reunion thread
The difference is, back then it was some shitty cheap Dell keyboard I got for free. This is a Roccat Vulcan keyboard that cost me about 120 euro and it's basically giving up. It was about half a decade back that I got it, so I can't complain. I could get new switches for it and solder them on etc. I don't know if I'm bothered, I'll probably just buy a good keyboard again some time this year. The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:25 am Oh no not again! Re: The reunion thread
This is probably the option I would choose. Mainly cuz I don't know how to do any of those things (I suppose i can just look it up). Reminds me of when my orange water fizzed on my keyboard and then the arrow keys stopped working.

Re: The reunion thread
Mine's a Corsair mechanical keyboard, and like yours it's about half a decade old (well, 2021 to be precise). The one I had before that was a Razer, and IIRC it had also lasted half a decade (from 2016)

My dad is on trail, my brother started school, I'm soon out of high school and I'm married to like 6 people
Re: The reunion thread
I guess we just expect to be lucky to get half a decade out of these things then. Mine is a weird one anyway with some non-standard stuff about it. I'd have probably bought a more "normal" one if I'd known.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:30 am Mine's a Corsair mechanical keyboard, and like yours it's about half a decade old (well, 2021 to be precise). But in my case there'd be absolutely nothing wrong with it if I hadn't spilled OJ on it. Stupid stupid Plum

Re: The reunion thread
Yeah a lot of social media outisde of here seems really wack in terms of the community. So many strange things that people apparently like but in reality is not that good (yeah i'm looking at you twitter and reddit)R4Y_ANC3L wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:19 am I haven't forgotten about this place one bit. It is good to be back and see some familiar faces again as well as some new ones here. And to actually be somewhere that is not like the internet.
Re: The reunion thread
I've been lucky enough to not do that, but one of my much older keyboards which was only a membrane one, I remember my friend joking with me just as I picked up coffee. He didn't see me pick up the cup and tried to show me an impression of how his brother would behave if he did something in a game. He grabbed me and started shaking me, and the coffee spilled all over the keyboard. Mostly on the numberpad. I guess back then I could have just washed the whole thing with it only being membrane, but I was clueless back then, it was like 2009 or something.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:48 am But in my case there'd be absolutely nothing wrong with it if I hadn't spilled OJ on it. Anyways, currently I'm seeing psychiatry to help ease the troubles that my ADHD causes me. Currently I'm looking for a new therapist so I can better live my life dealing with this disorder. Also trying to change up my diet and put in more exercise so that I can actually do some shedding instead of gaining. I can't say I'm at my best, but I'm not at my worst either.
Re: Catch us up on your life
Ah, to be young. Also yes, pretty crazy politcally. I feel like the internet may change, and I hope we return to forums, huzzah!

That'd be nice, but do you really think it's gonna move in that direction?

Re: Catch us up on your life
Even if it doesn't, it's nice that there are still people willing to use forums like these.
Re: Catch us up on your life
I'm honestly not sure. It's more so a hope. I would not mind. I would rather things not change, but I did enjoy the time of forums, and I have noticed how Discord (and google) killed forums in general. Kind of tired of the continous stream of thought with discord.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 4:51 am That'd be nice, but do you really think it's gonna move in that direction?

Well RPC has withstood the times. 22 years is pretty long a board like this to continue existing! I hope it will continue existing years from now!

Stream of consciousness eh? Like Lady Macbeth?
OK, sleep deprivation must be kicking in if I thought this was a good link to make
Anyhoo, there are big problems with the internet as it is, but I think efforts to find solutions are being nudged in the wrong directions, directions that could make it even harder for us to operate nice forums like this one

Re: The reunion thread
Not too bad. I got fired from my overpaid engineering job earlier in the year when the penny finally dropped with the execs that the whole "self-driving cars" thing wasn't going anywhere, so I got a fine severance package. Now I've started a PhD in batteries for energy storage, which feels a lot more meaningful and useful for the current state of the world.
Re: The reunion thread
That's amazing. Been recently unemployed myself, so have been just enjoying life with savings for a bit but, I do need to progress sometime soon.
