Re: The reunion thread
Hello Tobbe! And wow congratulations on the new house!
Re: Catch us up on your life
What... now you've got me all stressed out! (You reminded me of this)

Re: The reunion thread
Okay, so to quickly summarize:
-Still working as an orthopaedic surgeon at a small local hospital in Norway.
-Just bought a new house with my girlfriend, moved in about a week ago. Got the internet working.
-Will probably have a kid soon, we'll see.

Thanks! The tiny 58sqm apartment was getting kinda cramped, so it's nice to have a little more space!

Re: The reunion thread
I had two years which were rather demanding, but after that it was rather chill. Having been more driven back then would probably have given my career a faster start, but it's fine, I still managed to pivot later.neo wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:03 am I'm happy to hear you are doing well. I remember years ago you having to study so much. Hopefully you don't need to worry about that anymore haha.
Congrats on the new house! Hope it's nice and spacious.Tobbe wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:03 am Hey, guys! Good to be here!
We just bought a new house, so I'm in the process of settling in, assembling IKEA furniture and stuff like that, but I'll try to drop by a few times today.
Re: The reunion thread
Well hello Tobbe! Did you happen to rename yourself from Tobbe777? Don't think I forgot.Tobbe wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:03 am Hey, guys! Good to be here!

Once again, congrats Tobbe!
Re: The reunion thread
It is! Two floors, four bedrooms, huge veranda. I love it!Hunchman801 wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:11 am Congrats on the new house! Hope it's nice and spacious. How's things at work?
Things at work are going better. We've been short staffed forever, but we recently got one of our surgeons back from maternity leave and managed to find another one in Romania, so now I may not have to work myself to near death anymore!
I think it was just "Tobbe7", actually. "Tobbe777" might have been on the old RZ.neo wrote:Well hello Tobbe! Did you happen to rename yourself from Tobbe777? Don't think I forgot.
In other news, I still (kinda) remember how to use BB-code (or whatever it's called

Fellow new homeowners unite!
Re: Catch us up on your life
Thanks, you guys!

Yeah! Isn't it nice to have a mortgage? Can't believe I didn't try this sooner!
Re: The reunion thread
I see, yes my memory is fuzzy between the two boards. I think the BB code is just ingrained in me as a habit. Glad you were able to rename though, for example I'm happy I didn't have to use any extra numbers for my own name.Tobbe wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:18 am I think it was just "Tobbe7", actually. Re: Catch us up on your life
I said more in the reunion thread on how it went but I suppose I'll continue it here but yeah let's say we're paying a LOT less for mortgage than we were paying for rent, in fact a rent increase that we refused was what got us kicked out of the old place and the landlord lied about it.

Re: Catch us up on your life
Wow, good for you, then! We more or less tripled our monthly expenses by buying our house.Cairnie wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:23 am I said more in the reunion thread on how it went but I suppose I'll continue it here but yeah let's say we're paying a LOT less for mortgage than we were paying for rent, in fact a rent increase that we refused was what got us kicked out of the old place and the landlord lied about it.

Re: The reunion thread
Good news, I hope that at least you got properly compensated for all that "overtime"!Tobbe wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:18 am It is! Two floors, four bedrooms, huge veranda. I love it!![]()

That's good to hear, because the antiquated software that is phpBB probably isn't gonna introduce a visual editor anytime soon. In fact, when is the last time a new feature was even introduced? At least we can be thankful to the few remaining volunteers who still maintain it, but it's sad how nobody else seems to either care of have time anymore.Tobbe wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:18 am In other news, I still (kinda) remember how to use BB-code (or whatever it's called)
Re: The reunion thread
Fortunately, I did. Our leadership is very fair in that way, thankfully. I've heard plenty of horror stories from other hospitals in the country about people being "encouraged" to work unpaid overtime and extra shifts on a large scale.Hunchman801 wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 10:26 am Good news, I hope that at least you got properly compensated for all that "overtime"!
