A place where you can ride your bike safely must be nice! As for me, I mostly walk to the office: it's definitely safer that way!

Lyon is great for that. Not perfect, but overall good and getting better.

But commuters in cars are coping hard.

I only ever use my car to get into or out of town, it's just pointless for traveling inside Paris.

Yeah that sounds about right, cross-country runs a car is best, for city travel, it's just a pain.
