Yes, Manx was well-preserved thanks to Éamon de Valera sending people over with recording devices to record the last living native speakers in the early 20th century. I think there's a revival movement ongoing. The spelling's horrible though, it's as if it's got the worst bits of both Irish and English orthography!

Yep, Manx is getting a revival but it’s far from the scale that’s happening to Welsh and Irish. Though I hope all of these languages can be fully restored one day.

Only 71,000 people speak Irish outside the education system and that is down from 77,000 in the 2011 census. It's predicted that the language will go extinct in the next century. The Welsh language is probably safe though.

Fair enough that they didn’t really go extinct, albeit they got close. But there’s a really good effort to fully restore the Welsh language from what I’ve seen, there’s nearly more Welsh-Speaking primary schools at this point than kids!

Bumping this thread MYSELF is probably a little silly, though it's only been a few months this time at least. It's kind of funny seeing how many times people kept coming to this one after All this time. It's... heartwarming...? I think? But also extremely embarrassing for me, haha.

If anyone is curious, I'm doing OK enough today. Maybe a little better than I used to, or maybe worse, I dunno? But things are overall just OK for now. Definitely better than the dumb kid I was when I made this thread all those years ago. Of course, I'm still figuring myself out even after all this time.

No promises on if I'll be active again or not. I sorta just revisit and lurk around this community every couple years and it's been that way for a long time now, I can't remember the last time I was truly active here. Sooo... yeah!
