Oh yeah, I remember seen it in a video essay about The Simpsons. It reminded me of that Squidward creepypasta image that made it into an actual Spongebob episode (though I heard it was removed later).

Here's the clip I referred to in the SOTM thread the other day:

"Holy flirking schnitt!" That had completely gone below my radar when I watched that as a younger more innocent person :hap:

You know, the funny part is the moment I saw you post in this thread, I had a feeling you were going to reference to this. Some how some way, I just knew.

Well that sure was unexpected and funny though, so thank you for sharing.

Someone is remaking The Simpsons Hit And Run and replacing the 3d cutscenes with 2D animation. The name of the channel is "El Gato Del Tejado" (I think the user is from Spain).

I said it once, I'll say it again: I could easily rival Homer with my love for donuts. I even have a donut shower curtain! And if that's not enough, one of my favorite donuts from a local shop is even CALLED "The Homer". It's a strawberry frosted donut with rainbow sprinkles, made to look just like the one from the show.

This is actually really cool! :o

Haha, the first thing I think of is the episode where Homer was forced to "have all the donuts in the world". He just sat there enjoying what was supposed to be torture.

It's cool that they have one named after Homer also. :P

I was watching Season 35, and honestly, they're kind of hitting it out of the park, at least compared to the last very long time. I know a lot of people aren't super fond of the first season because it's not really all that funny, and while I adore the Simpsons' unique brand of humour, my favourite memories with the show are when it's telling more sentimental stories and not trying too hard to make you laugh. I think they age better than the humour, because if I'm honest, while the show's told countless amazingly hilarious, timeless jokes over the years, I think more contemporary adult cartoons have manage to squeeze out more laughter for me on average per-joke. But those cartoons also can't survive as well without their humour.

Special mentions to s35e02, this episode is a tearjerker. It feels like a very mature exploration on Marge's character, something I haven't seen handled this well and this artistically for a very long time on the show. It really made me feel that special sense of sincerity the show had in seasons 1 and 2, which I feel like I'm gonna get a lot of flack for saying even from fans who are more open to what the newer seasons have to offer.

I really don't like how popular the opinion is that shows can only go on so long before getting stale, because all it takes is a writer who really cares to invalidate that, case in point, this episode, and some others in season 35. I mean, as stereotyped as fanfiction is for being cringe, there are always going to be a few fantastic ones being made, and all you need to do is let those stories be told.

Regarding the question of "Are the Simpsons good again?", I recommend watching this video (if you don't mind the 1 hour runtime):

The Simpsons and their predictions... Not surprised at this point :)

I've heard this last season (35th) is fine compared to the others. Hopefully people are right! Seasons 1-12 (or 13, I can't remember properly) were amazing and have lots of jokes that I still remember with my irl friends . I wouldn't say the others are bad, because there are some episodes which are enjoyable, but generally it's just meh.

DST ended last night. I basically consumed the extra hour watching classic Simpsons episodes :hap:

I decided to watch Kamp Krusty – then I noticed A Streetcar Named Marge and Lisa the Beauty Queen were on the same disc, so then I had to watch them too! :P

Good luck and have fun watching them all Edge! I wanted to do the same but chickened out at some point. I hope this will help you appreciate the intricate and complex inner workings of the character of Bart Simpson. Or make you hate him less :)

I remember when I tried watching some of the Season 1 Simpsons, the animation for some episodes felt a bit weird - later I learned some of the episodes were done by the folks who did The Rugrats cartoon, which certainly was felt.

Oh that’s interesting!

—————

Here’s my reviews for the first 13 Simpsons shorts from the Tracy show. Now keep in mind I wrote this WHILE watching so it’ll feel like rambling sometimes.

Episode 1: good night
First impressions. Animation is so wacky and I love it. Also them unintentionally scaring the children is very funny actually. Honestly, a 7/10. Very different from the shows humor but still solid.

Episode 2:
Bart and Lisa keep beating each other up when ads come on. Maggie comes to mess with them.. probably out of confusion. Also I just realized how weird Simpsons voice is. I’m not sure if it’s another va but it is very different. Not a lot happens, 4/10

Episode 3: Homers voice is different again. I think this is another new va. This is basically a trust fall thing between Homer and Bart. I like how you can see how the show changed.. also Homer isn’t dumb. I liked how Homer kept getting distracted, 8/10

Episode 4: another Bart and Lisa episode with the TV. Maggie fell down the stairs, and now she’s causing lots of trouble because her siblings don’t care. I think these are shorts that the IA complied together. Honestly my favourite so far. 9/10. I loved the set up.

Episode 5: they keep insulting Maggie when she’s literally just a baby. Honestly I feel really bad for her. Anywho, she always outsmarts her siblings, which is very interesting. Lisa and barts rivalry seems to be less apparent here. Maggie keeps bringing in pacifiers from a drawer she has in her room just to annoy her older siblings which is GOLD. They keep stealing it from her tho.. just let her have it! Bart and Lisa seemed to have teamed up to torment Maggie.. but it turns to something wholesome. Maggie just shared 2. 10/10, was funny and ended wholeheartedly.

Episode 6: Burping contest? Lisa doesn’t seem to be a smart ass like she is in the show.. plus she seems to have a better relationship with Bart. Honestly I’m having problems finding things to say about the shorts. I guess it’s because they’re shorter and not a lot of characters development. Marge does not like burping. 7/10

Episode 7: a Marge episode! Finally! She made a good meal but not coming.. until she mentions dessert. I feel bad for her. She made that dinner out of love. Even Homer didn’t come to eat! Homers just the dad, and not dumb like in the show. Honestly he’s just a husk that shows up sometimes and barely does anything. 5/10

Episode 8: another sibling episode. They’re making ugly faces in this.. and I can see how they reused animation from episode 6.. and honestly I don’t blame them since this was all hand animated. It was a very common practice pre computers, but it still shocks me how expressive this show is compared to modern Simpsons. Marge is mad that they make silly faces. Lisa thinks Marge’s lie is true, which shows that she isn’t a genius in this. I guess that came later.. honestly fascinating to see how the characters evolved. I wonder if later episodes introduce other characters other than the Simpsons. Lmao they’re scared of their mom.. but yeah the animation is so impressive. 10/10 my favourite so far because of the impressive animation.

Episode 9: homer again. I think they changed his va again. 3rd time. Anywho this episode deals with loss, and I think the way these shorts are confined to one house and the outside world hasn’t been mentioned until the death of uncle Hubert. Honestly I wanna see another version of the show that’s just like this. Small bite sized shorts that deal with normal family issues. It’s honestly very charming. Lisa doesn’t know what death is, but Bart does. In the show I feel like Bart would’ve not understood the weight of death and Lisa would’ve explained it to him. I wonder if they’re homeschooled in this universe, or if there’s an outside world outside of their house. They are confined to this small space after all. Gives the show a very closed feel that I really like, especially with the lack of background noise. It feels like something that could make a good analog horror or ARG. THE OUTSIDE WORLD! It’s the first time we see a character outside the Simpsons family and the first time we see them in other clothes in this. Also the first appearance of the priest. Bart is excited to see the dead body..? He passed out. Oh god. Now we see the outside world but it still feels very limited. Like they’re confined to their small town.. the lack of music adds a vibe that they’re in some sort of purgatory. Honestly I adore it. The whole exploration of death also adds to the feel. 9/10. I’m loving these shorts!

Episode 10: Maggie episode. Body language on a baby.. kinda silly don’t you think Bart? They’re playing with her, sweet. LMAO BART GOT KICKED IN THE FACE. Honestly this is so cute, they really do love their little sister. I just wish they would stop calling her it. 8/10

Episode 11: HOMERS VOICE CHANGED, AGAIN. I don’t know how many vas this man has had in 11 episodes alone but dear god that is absurd. More of the outside world, and the animation changed a lot this time, and the upload quality is really bad. Not their fault. However id like to bring in the lack of background music again, and the world looking like a children’s drawing. It feels like a comic a child made about their life, I suspect its barts since he’s the main character in a lot of these. Anyway this is about foot ball, and Bart has to catch the ball to get his entire family chocolate milk shakes but he keeps failing. He got the ball in his mouth and it’s still there while he tries to drink it. 5/10 not really interesting.

Episode 12: Bart is making a house of cards.. I assume the plot of this is about people bothering Bart about his house of cards. Honestly his building skills are good, I wish they carried them over to the full show. 8/10.

Episode 13: an episode about Bart and Homer. Like I’ve already said he seems more grounded and less dumb, honestly I kinda prefer it that way. It’s so funny how they’re all so.. normal? Like I adore the coziness of it all. Anywho Bart hides behind the couch because he hates his dad’s cooking. Honestly, him seeing him trying to blind with his son was adorable. 10/10 my absolute favourite.

Honestly the shorts, with the way it’s animated and how it feels limited to spring field and there’s no outside world beyond it.. I feel like it’s told in some sort of comic Bart is making. I honestly really like the vibes! I’m excited to finish!
