I always interpreted that line as encouraging the player to come back to the Marshes to visit Ssssam again. Which basically does happen since you come back to go to the CoBD (although technically you don't have to visit Sssam when you do that)

Yes it was, there’s a statue of ssssam in rayman 3 saying it was one of “his finest catches” in razoffs place
