Formula 1
The idea popped up on Record Day, so why not? Welcome to the Formula 1 thread, where we'll discuss about the "most exciting" racing category. Expect the best car to win all of the races, but who knows, maybe they'll fail miserably...

I guess I like the movie
Re: Formula 1
See Dave? I told you we'd find at least one
Yesterday's GP was interesting. Stoked for Hadjar, he's having a stellar rookie season. Shame Red Bull is going to ruin everything
Interesting to see Piastri's approach to the multiple safety cars after what happened last time.

Re: Formula 1
I missed the first half of the race, unfortunately. Hadjar is definitely the rookie of the season. He was close to Tsunoda (if not faster in most of the cases) and clearly faster than dirty Lawson. He's probably getting the Red Bull sit, but if were him, I'd stay in RB just 1-2 more years. That sit is definitely hunted since the team is built around Max, and who knows, maybe there are other opportunities out of Red Bull.
With this victory, now both Norris and Piastri have more victories than Leclerc in his entire F1 career. At least Piastri is getting more consistency and is getting better slowly, but Norris is definitely mid tier getting nervous in every critical situation. None of them would be even close to other top drivers as team mates, but it is what it is in this sport
McLaren should be the main candidate to win in Monza, but I don't think it will be that easy for them. I have the feeling Ferrari will be fast again in Monza (sadly, it seems they've only focused on this race for the last few years). At least in qualifying. We'll see.

Re: Formula 1
Monza is their backyard. No wonder they focus on this.
But then again it seems that all hands are on the 2026 cars, which could bode well for Hadjar actually. A great reset to be alongside Max Verstappen, who is already rumored to want out asap.

Re: Formula 1
Well, yet another demonstration that if Verstappen has the right car to compete, neither of the McLaren drivers is up to the task.
On the other hand, what happened in the pits in the final laps showed that even this forum is more professional in its games than McLaren is in competition
It wasn't a particularly exciting race. There was a lot of intensity at the beginning and some tension at the end with the McLaren mess; other than that, it was a very average race.

Re: Formula 1
It was very mature of Piastri to comply to that team order instead of saying that "Hungary last year" was 100% a different situation that even bringing up the comparison is pretty much an insult.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 3:32 pm On the other hand, what happened in the pits in the final laps showed that even this forum is more professional in its games than McLaren is in competition![]()
He's starting to be cucked by McLaren even more than he ever was at Alpine.

Re: Formula 1
Will Hamilton get a penalty or not?
Honestly, I don't think so...
EDIT: well that was... Surprising
I mean, he deserved the penalty for cutting the corners and driving an unsafe car, but idk, I somehow expected Ferrari to justify this because it was an exceptional situation.
Russell did a great job this weekend, his pole lap was more than excellent. Again, Mercedes showed a great potential, but unfortunately it seems they can't keep it all the races.
Piastri is only 22 points ahead of Norris. Wouldn't want to see it, but I have the feeling he'll bottle the championship...

Re: Formula 1
The meme of Russell doing nothing and getting podiums is never more true. He did his thing and got the win. Perfectly well deserved, too.
As for Piastri, he hasn't been getting fucked like this since his Alpine junior days. Papaya rules are clearly set against him and he clearly has had enough of it. But more disguting was Sky Sport's coverage of it. Lando can punt both Max and shove Oscar into the wall and they still will justify it by invoking a situation of Monza last year that went in Oscar's favor but otherwise was completely different.
I'm beginning to wonder if I don't like Lando because of Lando or because of the entire ecosystem of the media coverage favoring british folks. And that's coming from a huge french chauvinist (that admittedly has very little to feast on since Ocon's victory in 2021)

Re: Formula 1
The British bias is always there, especially when the British team/driver has a chance to win. And if necessary, the team will help the British driver if he's struggling. Do I have to mention the multiple times where Hamilton was favoured in the past, both by his team and by the FIA? And well, not only in the past... This weekend he pushed under red flag and he had no penalty.Pirez wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 7:17 pm I'm beginning to wonder if I don't like Lando because of Lando or because of the entire ecosystem of the media coverage favoring british folks.
And let's not forget other stupid penalties, such as the one Alonso got in Australia last year... It seems dirty air is something that was created to screw British drivers...
Re: Formula 1
True, but it really seems inconsequential for unless for 2007 where Alonso was clearly on the same level and 2021 for the Verstappen bullshit that allowed him to come back in the title fight.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 7:39 pm struggling. Otherwise, he was either the clear number 1 or not in a clear position to compete (as he is now). So we don't notice as much.
But I do remember the discourse where you'd just be a racist if you criticized Hamilton. 2021 was not a good year for F1 discussions

Re: Formula 1
Hamilton is incredibly fast (although if he was that good, he should have adapted to the Ferrari quickly and would be beating Leclerc constantly... right? RIGHT?!
), but I can't stand he has been favoured so many times in his career without any kind of logic.
The fight Hamilton-Alonso was even worse since the Mclaren team admitted to be racing against Fernando that year, but I truly believe Oscar is in a similar situation. Clearly in 2007 it was worse, but it's such a coincidence that most of the times the one favoured with the Papaya rules is Lando...
I understand that Piastri doesn't want to say anything wrong about the team because that would turn them against him, but he must have more determination. He's lucky that his main rival is Lando, extremely lucky.

Re: Formula 1
Oh god, it can be so funny today...
Re: Formula 1
It could have (and Tsunoda gave his best shot), but it turned out to be rather boring, at least until the livestream has been cut around lap 35.
I feel really bad for Oscar, McLaren decided to fuck him over up until the very end, keeping him on hard tires when we was clearly voicing the end of his stint. Oh well, what a weird season it was overall. Here's to a next one full of wonders. New regs, Audi, Cadillac, it's going to happen fast!

Thoughts on this comic? Just bought it this week. I don't think Fabcaro did a bad work with L'iris blanc, so well, I'm hopeful this one's also a correct one.
Re: Formula 1
I haven't read it yet. The Fabcaro era has the reputation to be hit and miss but I found them all solid. I'll surely give it a go once I'm done with my relocation.
