Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Those are either emulated or being run using new engines (Retro Engine), I'm talking about cases where the original code is modified and adapted through community projects to run on modern PCs.
To give an example, look at LEGO Island:
https://github.com/isledecomp/isle
Ofc that was originally a PC game, but the principle is similar. A community effort to recreate the code and allow it to run on modern PCs.

Ah!
So Rayman Redemption, Rayman redreamed, Rayman 3 Remake, that one Rayman GBA game and Rayman gold?

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Nope, those are fangames (using a new engine and new codebase - Redemption, Redreamed, Havoc Reignited), or an official port (not through community effort, though likely using the original codebase - Gold).
The only one I'd say I might count is "that one Rayman GBA game," as I'm assuming you're referring to RayCarrot's Rayman 3 GBA project. Which isn't quite the same, as it's recreating rather than trying to reimplement the original code of the games, but it's in the same spirit.
I'll try to refine what I'm asking.

There's gotta be a Devil May Cry game in there so I'm going to guess Devil May Cry 5
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Also to complete : the new ports of the classic Final Fantasies : let's try FF9, FF8 and FF6

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Ah not quite, to reiterate I'm after community projects that take the original code from their original console releases, and then recompiles the code to run on PC.
I'll give a proper example and reduce the amount I'm after. All can reattempt.
So what I'm thinking of is something in line with the Mario 64 decompilation: https://blog.davidburela.com/2023/10/28 ... ted-to-pc/
A similar effort is a recompilation, which takes the source code, and tries to compile it for modern platforms, the key difference is that it's not trying to make it human readable, just workable enough that you can get it running on PC.
Two examples in line with a recompilation, or decompilation are what I seek.

I had to double check, but I will allow that answer. Super Mario Bros did have a decompilation: https://github.com/MitchellSternke/SuperMarioBros-C
Doom is a bit more finicky, as the game's source code was shared by the developers, not decompiled by the community. But...the PS1 version was: https://github.com/BodbDearg/PsyDoom
Because I've not seen any other attempts, I'm going to accept that answer. If anyone is interested, PCGamingWiki has a list of similar recompilations and decompilations, alongside old fashioned community ports: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_ ... cial_ports

Turbo button, of course. Especially since older games would run too fast otherwise. So it slows down the clock speed of the CPU. Bubble Ghost is a fine example of one of the games that could run way too fast on a 486 vs a 386 machine.

True, but Skyrim 2 is very much a meme, not an actual thing. To clarify, I'm asking about the game that has the largest amount of musical pieces, not necessarily the longest tracks, but a higher quantity of them.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
So my answer was easily going to be Final Fantasy 14 Online, hands down because of how packed that game is with music, but I also remember my IT buddy that's visited me multiple times, having talked to me about Runescape's music and gotten me to listen to the orchestrated versions of it when he was here too a couple of of years back. I know Runescape goes way back, even further than FFXIV, and still is going as far as I'm aware, so I'd not be surprised if it holds the trophy here.

Isn't it Smash Ultimate?

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Reese apparently appearing out of nowhere to steamroll the game! Indeed, RuneScape holds a Guinness World Record (I'll admit however they aren't particularly vigorous so make of that what you will) for Most original pieces of music in a videogame (including expansions)
Reese moves up the leaderboard, but cannot answer this next question.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
It's Venom Snake. He was made to look like Big Boss after an explosion took out his face.
Also technically Naked Snake isn't "related" to Big Boss... because he IS Big Boss
