< thinks it's much better when the game happens to be in the console rather than in some random place where it's probably getting destroyed.

While < subscribes to the idea that inheritance is theft, wouldn't go so far as to say that it dictates one's potential. Yes, it provides an unfair advantage to many, but < certainly won't let it prevent < from reaching <'s goals!

When < reads that quote, < is reminded of all the people over here who sit on their ass all day, spending any money they get from the welfare on the likes of weed, then have the audacity to say "I can't get a job with all these foreigners". Flat out hypocrisy. They can't get a job because they're either lazy, or they're not even trying. The foreign people coming over are willing to work, and fair play to them for that. They can't blame foreign people for their laziness or lack of competence. :P

< wouldn't mind someone being unemployed in itself, it's just more, don't complain about it and blame others if you're literally not even making an effort.

< subscribes to the idea of "why not both?" For what is within your control of course < can take responsability. But recognizing the game is inherently unfair doesn't necessarily mean whining. That's taking it to the extreme.

Proof in the pudding : < wouldn't have gotten the loan without the 120k inheritance split between < and <'s sister, but < also wouldn't have gotten the loan if < wasn't a responsible working adult. There's a bit of column A and a bit of column B.

Also < feels < does enough associative work on the side to avoid being considered a lazy-ass. That being said : < should probably go back to work.

< asks if ^ means level the playing field too? Surely, that would be nice, but that's a tall order!

< wonders if ^ is baiting in order to call me a filthy woke communist again, as ^ did numerous times in the french forums during record day, because of course < would advocate the leveling of the playing field. Billionnaires are hoarding the wealth and parading as people who work harder than anyone else despite the fact that we constantly see they enjoying life on their yachts while privatizing Venice for their extravagant weddings.

(< may or may not have shared a fake news in the previous paragraph in order for english people to get interested in what happens in the french forums)

< believes the problem is not that a person can have absurd wealth, as it is just as inevitable that a person can have not a penny to their name. Rather, it is a problem of cultural values.

< believes the absurdly wealthy tend to spread about a lot of wealth, not by giving it away, but by generating opportunities. Actual philanthropy is less common.

Were it possible to remove the genuinely evil people from the world of business, there would remain businesspeople who possess a moral conscience, but place a still greater priority on profit and success. Their ability to do good is a motivating factor, but a secondary one. Even when they do philanthropy, it is unconsciously tinged with a desire to make a show of their public profile.

The reason for this is quite simple; it is reinforcement. The more a person engages in business, the more its share in consciousness predominates, and "doing good" becomes a secondary qualifier rather than the entire aim. This reinforcement comes through both habitual and hereditary roots. But the inverse is also true, because while a priest or an artist might make a well-reasoned essay or philosophical argument from an ethical standpoint, their priority of ethics and willingness to compromise obfuscates their vision of optimal choices in a strategic context.

When the one type finds the other within them, balance is restored.

Well, < doesn't have the power to do that, even if < really really wanted to :oops2:

< was working with sugar again in the lab today, and had to fight the temptation to lick the spatula  Obviously, < couldn't because [1] sugar is bad for my diet (sorry Pirez) and [2] nobody should ever lick anything in the lab ever, for reasons that should be obvious to everyone :fou:

< Spent an hour doing French homework before realising it was the wrong one, then had to spend some more time to do the right one. :confus:

Well at least you'll have that one done in advance for when it gets assigned :hap:

< spent over an hour this evening preparing for <'s tutorial tomorrow morning. The solution the lecturer gave < just glossed over what was surely the trickiest step, so < had to figure it out <'sself :confus:

< realized today that < is nominally in the Physics Department, yet the work < is doing is mainly chemistry, and for the moment most of <'s teaching effort is basically maths :P

Even if you could, < says Humch would technically be able to unban himself since he has access to the database ;)

< has GERD, but it's only classed as GERD when you get it frequently like < does. Issue is, it's hard to narrow down a real way to fix it.
