I actually did a randomized Soullink with someone once, where I would catch 6 legendaries... and caused around 80% of the deaths.

Edges answer was satisfactory enough that I'll give him the point, I don't think it was YouTubers who came up with the idea, I'm going off Bulbapedia:

Alas, I'm afraid that is incorrect.

As for the actual question, I'll try Xbox 360, being a Microsoft staple, but I feel that dr_st has the correct answer.

Truth be told, I completely forgot about the original Xbox and was thinking of the Xbox One & PS4. But the original Xbox is indeed correct, turns out the 360 is the only Xbox console with the honour of not having an x86 processor. The original Xbox's processor was based on the Intel Pentium III.

Funfact: the x86 architecture of the original Xbox made that the easiest non-PC version of Rayman 3 for me to reverse engineer to make the HoF decrypter

Did you have to reverse engineer every version to be able to make the decryptor?

Ahhh, that must've been fun, looking at the different distinct architectures. Was the underlying code of Xbox's version rather similar to the PCs then?

I thought RPC was given the decrypter a good while back to use?PluMGMK wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 10:33 am Funfact: the x86 architecture of the original Xbox made that the easiest non-PC version of Rayman 3 for me to reverse engineer to make the HoF decrypter![]()
Oh boy, imagine if that method actually was kept.Master wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 9:56 am QUESTION 24 - There was a special way to transfer data between cartridges of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooiee that wasn't implemented in the final game. What was it called and how was it going to work?
Basically think of it as hot-swapping a harddrive, except it's the game cartridge, not a harddrive. Wasn't that like "stop 'n swop" or something? Which took advantage of the early flaws of the N64 that retained the RAM contents for like ten seconds if you kept the system on?
Ninty did not endorse hotswapping game cartridges, and honestly this was probably for the best. (Besides, why couldn't they just use the Controller Pak to like... you know... allow for data transfer of sort?)
Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
My first guess would have been using the transfer pak alongside a dummy GB cartridge (preferably in the shape of a puzzle piece) to proceed to the transfer but it seems really intricate and I can't imagine a name for it.Reese Riverson wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 2:45 pm (Besides, why couldn't they just use the Controller Pak to like... you know... allow for data transfer of sort?)

A method like that would at least have worked more safely over hotswapping the game cartridges.Pirez wrote: Thu Sep 18, 2025 3:19 pm My first guess would have been using the transfer pak alongside a dummy GB cartridge (preferably in the shape of a puzzle piece) to proceed to the transfer but it seems really intricate and I can't imagine a name for it.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Reese is correct, the Stop N Swop was a feature where you'd be able to unlock items in Banjo-Tooiee by having collected certain items in Banjo-Kazooie, and then swapping the cartridge within a 10 second period. As Reese says the idea is that data would be left in the RAM of the console during the swap, that could be read then by Banjo-Tooiee.
Of course, there's a few risks involved to pulling out a cartridge from a powered system...so yeah I can see why Nintendo was not so keen on the idea. But I like the idea as a concept, and of course we'd see other games sort of did pull this kind of trick by being able to read data in your memory card.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 6 - Master
Oh that's easy, because it was one of my PS2 titles that I was like "Whaaa?" when I saw him with no tail. It's Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked. I'm pretty sure it was simply due to his armor just doesn't accommodate his tail, leaving us a very hilarious dialog moment from Ratchet.
God I love the Ratchet and Clank series, the sense of humor is just priceless.
