Do you mean “bought?”

Also, have fun with the game! Heard it was really good!

As my grandfather used to say : there's no bad reason to go nazi!

Anyway, after that amazing joke that isn't even true, now that Silksong is done I've been playing Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in the US) on and off, and sometimes on stream.

I love the original Dark Cloud on PS2 even though it is deeply, deeply flawed and the fascinating thing about Dark Chronicle is that it fixes every single issues of the original yet the sequel is worse in every single aspect. The core gameplay is stiffer, the characters can't shut the fuck up and its newfound depth is nauseating because if you want to 100% the game (or in fact get correct rewards from a dungeon-RPG) you have to take pictures of bosses in the middle of their ultimate attack which usually doesn't trigger when they're out of reach. Growing up it was my biggest disappointment in videogaming history, but it was since topped in royal fashion by Kingdom Hearts III.

What are the odds? I've never heard of Epic Mickey until two days ago, when I started reading "Press Reset" by Jason Schreier. And now I am hearing about it for the second time in as many days.

My comment there had really been true at the time (after I posted the OP edited the topic title). :oops2:

Sorry. It’s like… a habit of mine. I tutor so I tend to correct when words are misused or when it’s the wrong type of “they’re” or something

Still playing Hollow Knight, already my third most played game! In fact my associate put out a fanmade Hollow Knight Trailer earlier and I’m gonna do the same later.

I will be starting Pokémon Z-A later today :D

On stream, of course, but also in French, so I dunno why I even share this information.

So I've completed casual (i.e. main game, not post-game) runs of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I've begun the process of attempting to 100% Galaxy 2, I'll probably go back to Galaxy 1 to 100% at some point, but seeing as I already did 120 stars in Galaxy before, I'd rather tackle the game I've not played in a long long time instead.

It is interesting, having played both Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 back-to-back, just how similar and yet different they feel. Both Galaxy games are a lot more restrictive and linear compared to the previous mainline 3D titles (64 and Sunshine), but I feel Galaxy 1 makes a bit of an attempt to at least give some illusion of openness. Galaxy 2 on the other hand seems to wear its linearity more openly, and I do find it interesting how it feels like it's the first 3D Mario game to start giving greater acknowledgement and taking more from the 2D games, items like the Comet Medals are very similar to the Star Coins from NSMB for instance, as is the introduction of checkpoint flags and forgoing a level hub (Starship Mario is more of a playground than a hub, let's be real) for a level select/world map as is 2D tradition. It is interesting to note that between Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2, NSMB Wii released, and I do wonder if it had a bit of an influence on Galaxy 2. We also know that Galaxy 2 was followed by 3D Land and 3D World, which are far more brazen in their 2D Mario -> 3D gameplay design.

That being said, Galaxy 2 definitely feels a lot more substantial when it comes to the levels and ideas. It's clear that having had the chance to experiment and refine what worked and doesn't with Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2 had the freedom to expand on what worked and put in new ideas that enhanced the core gameplay ideas - such as the introduction of Yoshi. Galaxy 2 does have the internal name of Galaxy More, and I'd suspect in the modern era, it'd be a DLC for Galaxy, but I think it being a separate game is valid as it has more than enough content to justify itself.

I will say however, I could tolerate the motion stuff in Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2 on the other hand, does try my patience a little. I've gotten most of the non-Green stars in the majority of the non-World S Galaxies at this point, barring one in Fleet Glide because I can't get the motion controls to work with me in getting through the gates needed to get the Comet Medal. I can't remember if I was able to do this back on the Wii, but it wouldn't surprise me if I didn't then.

All in all though, it's been fun to replay the games, there are definitely some things I wish had better QoL (it'd been nice if some of the mandatory motion gimmickry as mentioned in the prior paragraph, had been either refined further or had a non-motion equivalent control scheme). On the whole, these games still feel as legendary as I remember, and their pedigree is well earnt in my opinion.

I'll be carrying on with trying to get 100% in Galaxy 2, but I'm contemplating biting the bullet and getting ZA at some point now. I do however, still have a Prime Trilogy replay to do within the next month given the approaching release of Metroid Prime 4. So...guess we'll see how things pan out. Anyways, braindump over, off to bed, I hope.

Oh no, a BlueGoop reference!!11

I completed Hollow Knight this Sunday. I still need to complete two of the DLCs, do some backtracking and complete some quests to unlock the real ending, but still, I think I explored a lot! The game showed me 90% of progress before beating the final boss.

It was my first metroidvania in years (honestly, I can't remember the last time I played one of these games), but I enjoyed the experience. The game has a lot of content, it's challenging and it always has some way to motivate you to keep exploring the map. It's definitely a game that somehow reminded me of older games. Even after finishing it, I'm still determined to explore more.
Hollow Knight hasn't invented anything, most of its features were in older games, but combining it with the souls features, it's probably the game that executes these ideas in the optimal way -thus, becoming a reference not only for other modern metroidvanias, but probably for other indie games.

I literally went back to playing Super Mario World on SNES after talking with Reese and deciding on powering older consoles with USB-C and power delivery. My SNES power adapter stopped working last year at some point, and once I started using this method to power the consoles, I started playing the game again.

Yeah, I’ve gotten 109% in Hollow Knight now. No idea how to get the other 3%, wish I knew endings didn’t count towards it before beating The Radiance 10th try! :tssk: I assume I’m gonna have to do more stuff in Godhone to get 112%.

Finished the matin quest of Pokémon Z-A. Now I don't know if I want to complete side missions and complete the Pokédex or go back to Dark Chronicle.

Tomodachi Life. I have two versions, the US and EU versions. I have a Rayman Mii on both, and he's making a lot of friends on both versions.

So far I have only saved one marriage, and that's Dunban and Melia (Xenoblade Chronicles 1).

Oh god, not Tomodachi life, my island is so cursed... I've talked about my mom marrying Kurt Kobane, and my Sister marrying Matt from Wii sports, but now I'm pretty sure my dad is dating Joseph Stalin (who is apparently a girl on my island?), and I think my mii has been wearing the same fish hat and pink Santa costume for months now... Best game of all time.

I've been in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as of late; unlike what seems like most of the gaming community, I actually don't see it as superior to Mario Kart World. Don't get me wrong, this game is a lot of fun with its mechanics, gadgets, and the main gimmick of the game, the CrossWorlds. However, most of the crossover characters aren't quite doing it for me, and some characters (namely the Werehog and the Sonic Prime characters) feel like they really should have had voice lines.

Anyway, right now I'm working towards beating all the Rivals to unlock Super Sonic, but in between those sessions, I find myself going back to Mario Kart World a lot to hunt down Free Roam collectibles and take cool photos. Maybe I don't see the game in such a pessimistic light because I don't play online that much. :oops2:

I'm not saying Mario Kart World is better than Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, but I'd actually put both on the same level of enjoyment for me!
