In addition to Steambot, it’s also understood that Ubisoft wants to take the Rayman franchise further than just a remake, too, and has already made preliminary plans to develop Rayman 4.
According to sources, the project is planned but will depend on Steambot’s success. If put into production, it is expected to be released by the end of the decade.

5 years for a modern game ain't exactly against the norm at this point in time. I suppose all eyes are now on what happens with Steambot.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Tom Henderson giving us the Ubisoft scoops as usual.
I'm glad to hear that Steambot's development is apparently going "incredibly well"! That's a great sign for the project. That late 2026 release date target is way earlier than I expected for it, too.
Still, I have my doubts about that Rayman 4. I'm glad they're considering making it, but this is very early and planning projects based on the success of others rarely ends well. We've seen Ubisoft disregard the smaller success of their non-AAAA projects a lot, like with Rayman Legends apparently not selling enough to justify development of another Rayman (last we heard it had sold 4.48 million copies, in 2019) or Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope being branded a flop a year before we hear it's sold 3 million copies. So while it's clear that there are people at Ubisoft who want another Rayman as much as we do, I don't think we should expect too much on that front. Regardless, I'm happy about the Steambot news and I'm looking forward to it!

Cautious optimism as always. I just want a new 3D platformer lol. I'm getting old.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I kind of just miss the platforming era being a thing. These days aren't about platformers anymore even if there are any good games at all out there. It's definitely not a platforming time in gaming unfortunately.

I hate these ultimatums companies do. I hope Ubisoft keep their expectations in check and don't expect this Rayman remake to do numbers like their bigger IPs.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Buh… This "ultimatum" thing reminds me of the time management agreed to let my boss and me send an RFQ to a foundry, on the understanding that it would be too much and hence abandoned. Then later it shifted to maybe letting us go ahead with the minimal scope of work outlined in the foundry's response, and management hoping it would fail…

Sounds like sabotage coated up in some less harsh sounding verbage.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
There was a video from Paris Games Week containing a small interview with Loïc Gounon, the brand producer of Rayman at Ubisoft Montpellier.
Here's a link to the part where he talks about what's next for the series: https://youtu.be/Cne7G2frQjM?si=lon77GxNFQJikgNZ&t=717
He says that they don't want a wait that's too long. He says in the short to medium future, they will have Rayman games to reveal.
It's interesting that he talks about Rayman games in plural, but I think that doesn't necessarily indicate they're actively working on more than one game.
This doesn't tell us much, but it definitely lines up with the earlier article by Tom Henderson about the Rayman remake targeting a 2026 release and Ubisoft possibly considering another new Rayman project.
Also, in the spirit of these 30th anniversary celebrations he says his favorite Rayman game is Rayman 1, but he also likes other games for other reasons. He has fond memories of Rayman Raving Rabbids/Rayman 4 (yes, he mentions Rayman 4
) as it was his first Rayman game at Ubi, and he also really likes Origins and Legends.

Interesting!
And yes, whether we like it or not, RRR really is Rayman 4, isn't it?

I feel like this is the sort of power madness that I ought to be reporting to a member of staff...

Anyway, something that I haven't mentioned yet is that I think Christophe Héral might not be the composer for this remake. Every time we see him in these 30th anniversary videos, he's given two titles: "composer" and "music advisor". He hasn't been a "music advisor" for any other Ubisoft games I believe, so maybe this is for the new remake project. Perhaps they got the original composer on board to remake their own soundtrack, or a new composer, and Héral is just advising them now?

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I wasn't even aware of this until now, but you're absolutely right, that is completely out of line. I did a quick search on the context, and it seems like the author of that joke was not much older than 10 at the time (2009). That doesn't make it any more acceptable, but the fact that it was said by a young teenager in 2009 means it's not really representative of the general maturity or sentiment of the Rayman community today.Droolie wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 5:23 pm... He's a real person, even as a tasteless joke that's taking it way too far.
Could it be that the remake is just going to reuse most of the original music, and that only minor changes to the soundtrack are planned?Droolie wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 5:23 pm Anyway, something that I haven't mentioned yet is that I think Christophe Héral might not be the composer for this remake. Ah, that makes a lot of sense. At that age you don't really stop to think about this kind of thing.Hunchman801 wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 5:37 pmI wasn't even aware of this until now, but you're absolutely right, that is completely out of line. I hope you're right about the soundtrack! This remake will probably be either Rayman 1 or 2, and I don't think either of these soundtracks need any improvements at all.

Both soundtracks for Rayman 1 and 2 are perfect as they are. If they make the remake and release it I just hope they won't ask for insane amount of money for it and that it won't have microtransactions

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I wouldn't be opposed to some touch-ups, for instance it'd be nice if Rayman 1's music looped rather than fading out into silence. Though I suspect that might be a subjective thing given how they tended to mix in a lot of ambient sounds between track plays.
As for Rayman 2, I think it's fine as is, though I wouldn't be opposed to it being remastered (in the very literal sense, an upscale in audio clarity, not remaking).

To be honest I kind of like the music transitioning into ambiance after a while, it makes the music feel less repetitive.Master wrote: Wed Nov 19, 2025 9:37 pm I wouldn't be opposed to some touch-ups, for instance it'd be nice if Rayman 1's music looped rather than fading out into silence.
