Multiquote feature?

Post by RaypersonNikol »

Heya, Nikol here. Just wondering if I can suggest a feature that can possibly be implemented into this beautiful community, and that is multiquoting.

This is present in most forums I've been in, and even some virtual pet sites with forums have this feature.

It would help to be able to multiquote because it wouldn't lead to double posts responding to two different people by mistake.

Multiquoting is basically replying to multiple quotes by different people in one post. When you select Multiquote on the posts you want to quote and reply to, there would be a counter stating how many quotes you want to respond to, then you can reply to those in the reply box. This would potentially bring down instances of double posting on accident, thus less accidental rule breaks or just rule breaks involving posting in general.

(Yes, I know I am no exception, I have double or multiposted twice and I apologize for that.)

EDIT: I will take feedback on this, I am no stranger to feedback or criticism.

phpBB actually does have the feature ;) click Full Editor & Preview and you’ll see a quote button in the post review screen which adds it to the text area.

It does? Weird, cuz it doesn't stick out to me I guess... time to hide myself in embarrassment and possibly delete this XD

Yes, this is also mentioned in the guidelines:
PluMGMK wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 3:00 pm If you want to quote multiple posts in your reply, you can use the quote buttons in the "topic review" below the editor when you are initially making your post (or else just manually copy-paste the text inside quote tags).
That said, it's quite broken, in that you can select a portion of a message to quote, but if that portion itself contains a quote, the generated BBcode syntax gets screwed up with HTML tags. There are probably other subtle breakages too, arising from the fact that phpBB is sadly quite undermaintained these days due to the decline in popularity of forums

Ack, yeah that makes sense. It's a shame that forums are not popular anymore as they once were.
